I ended up paying $600 per month last year for the lowest plan "Lead" below Bronze and Tin plans. That's $7200/year.

Obamacare sucks if you have previously paid for your own insurance. Before Obamacare, my Anthem in CA was $180/month.

For Doctor appointment when insurance Propaganda tells you get $35, $75 or often free Dr. Office visits, so they can con you into inflated premiums based on dishonest information. You don't get $35 or $75 bills you keeps getting $350 and $1200 mystery bills that the Dr's office wont explain and the Insurance company will tell you to shut your whore mouth, if you fuck with the Doctor and rock the boat of their gravy train they've got going, no Doctor will ever see you again. You should try the "Unleaded" plan, which covers $50 toward funeral expenses, but only if you are cremated by a Kilauea lava flow. However, it has a $1000 deductible, which means you wind up owing $950 for each claim.

When I lived out in Monterey, there was a 6 month period I didn't have insurance. I went to the Dr. and I think the total bill was $75 if I paid cash. Prescription was like $10 for an antibiotic.Which led me to wonder, why do we need insurance?

Why not just catastrophic ? For a broken arm, heart attack, etc..

And make everything else self pay.
