According to the front-runner in Mexican presidential election Andreas Obrador.

Here, right from the horse's mouth:

Think about it, folks: a guy is running for President of Mexico on the platform of his compatriots having a right to move into your country on a whim. This is basically what it boils down to. They think it's a fucking right.

Nothing about improving his country so people need not leave.

Employers love obedient illegals. They work for less and don't get uppity - exactly because they are illegal and can be deported.

Illegals love to be here because their own countries suck so much.

Consumers love the lower prices they can get when employers pass over impoverished US citizens and instead employ illegals for much less.

So it seems like a great match all around. Until you consider that illegals are directly harming millions of the poorest US citizens by forcing wages further downward for the worst-paid jobs.

Anyone who supports illegal immigration is harming the most vulnerable US citizens.

Are there any Democrats on the record opposing this ?

I have lived and worked in Mexico, it was decades ago. Since then I have visited often to my old stomping grounds. Once I did some extensive traveling in Mexico during a consulting job for the Mexican government.

Around 1980 or so, the population was full of young people, the population had exploded. There were about 69 million Mexicans and extreme poverty was common. The population growth slowed in some places but it's still huge. Compared to the GDP of Mexico, the population is just too high.

Every Mexican I knew had at least one relative living illegally in the USA.

Mexico has been corrupt for as long as anyone can remember, so many Mexicans believe (mistakenly) that their poverty is derived from rich corrupt politicians or rich business owners. it's not really so; Mexico just isn't that productive in relation to its population.

The average living standard has risen a lot since I left in 1982, but the basic truth is that Mexico will starve unless illegal workers in the USA send money back to Mexico. Likewise the vast drug money is recycled back into Mexico for various uses. Visit Culiacan Sinaloa and it's relatively modern and prosperous; the money there is all from drug production.

The Mexico government's policy is to send their poor to the USA to work; the interesting thing is for once it has been verbalized by a politician.

Mexicans believe their poverty is caused by the USA and therefore feel no need to respect any of our laws. Further, they believe we stole their territory and they are just taking back what was "theirs".

Addendum: The amnesty for illegal people in 1986 created an incentive for others to come the USA. I have watched Spanish language TV since then, and the topic of another "amnesty" was repeated for decades. They reported DACA as an amnesty by Obama which would precede a larger amnesty. They understand that if you give amnesty to a minor, "chain migration" will result in the immediate family becoming legal also.

The intense hate for Trump is not so much his comments about Mexicans, rather he has crushed the dream of someday coming to the USA.
All Mexicans see living in the USA as a "last resort" if things never go well for them. Trump took this away and he is hated and resented.

I’ve heard that the busiest day in Mexico is mañana.

Thanks @clambo very interesting to hear from someone who lived there.

Their birth control problem would be easily solved by inculcating feminism into Mexican girls. There is no greater weapon for depopulating countries.

Obrador is the greatest Gift for Trump right now.

"My citizens moving to your country is a human right."

The funny thing is that Obrador thinks he can scare Trump into making some kind of deal, or a payoff to Mexico to shut up.

Man, is he ignorant.

What would happen if Trump issued an executive order to stop all Western Union remittances to Mexico from the US?

I forget if it was Ulysses S. Grant or Teddy Roosevelt who lamented the Indians becoming pathetic beggars after their way of life was obliterated.

Time to add turrets to President Trumps plan for a Wall.

This is what distinguishes illegals from from Mexico and further south from all other immigrants. This is why you see them try to make the US like Mexico instead of a better place and adapting like most other groups rapidly.

Gosh, he is stating Mexico is a shithole. Why not just make Mexico as successful as the US? It's not a secret. Capitalism, entrepreneurship, freedoms, democracy etc. is all it takes.
