Probably not. What you call "policy control" is actually setting the political agenda. Obviously this is chosen specifically to divide and distract people.

Notice that there are agenda items around:
- trans people
- denying GW
- abortion
- gun control
- race
None of which represent a particularly burning issue (or should represent a burning issue) but is guarantied to drive people crazy.


But there are no agenda items around
- inequalities (which should subsume the race debate)
- crony capitalism and money in politics
- healthcare
- housing
- education financing
- opioid crisis (which kills FAR more people than guns)

All of which represent actually important issues for Americans.

It's all carefully designed.

And if it was not for Trump, trade and immigration wouldn't be on the agenda either.

If you are on the right, you may not care about inequalities. Social inequalities has been traditionally an issue for the left.
However my point remains: inequalities are at record levels, but do you hear any democrat politicians talking about inequalities?
I don't.
Politicians on the left do not talk about inequalities any more: Way too inconvenient for our corporate masters.
Instead let's distract and outrage people with SJWism: trans people, racism, feminism: this will divide people and make them fight each other while they are being fleeced.
