Democrats have a history of underestimating Republican presidents.

Ronald Reagan, numerous Democrats originally thought, was a lightweight Hollywood actor with charisma and television appeal but not much more. George H.W. Bush, according to his critics, was a well-meaning "wimp" whose leadership skills were lacking and who could never escape from the shadow of Reagan.
His son George W. Bush, Democrats joked, was a nice guy who you might want to have a beer with but someone who didn't know much about world or domestic affairs. Americans who saw the televised debates in 2000 can probably still hear the sound of Vice President Al Gore sighing after almost every remark.
In each case, however, the Democrats didn't see what was coming.
...

... President Trump could be looking at two more years of united government, with a GOP that will see him as an influential kingmaker, and the Congress will be more willing to start handing him legislative victories on the path to 2020.

Right now Trump has got the Democratic Party calling for the abolition of ICE entirely.

Mayor of NY and Senator Gillibrand of NY joining the open border crowd calling for abolition of iCE? So do they accept the borders of their house?

The Trump presidency will be credited with killing off the Democratic party.

Reasonable Democratic voters are leaving the party in droves. Only the extremists will remain.

The mainstream media amplifying and extremist progressive rhetoric will only contribute to their own demise as well (CNN, NBC, MSNBC, etc.) The general public isn't as stupid as the MSM had hoped. Seems that they will never learn until they die off completely.

And you have the recent elections to prove it.

Alabama was a fluke. Evangelicals voted first for the man who seemed to champion their cause the most, then abandoned him when it seemed he might be a pedophile. Nice job by Democrat operatives there for 1)digging the dirt and 2)holding it until no new candidates could be announced. Automatic Democrat victory. It was practically a “bye” for the old rogue facing off against the disgraced Moore. He will be replaced again with a Republican when the term is up, which will be very soon.

What WILL prove that the Democrats are YUUUUGE losers are the elections in November. I’m 100% confident that Republicans will gain seats in both the House and Senate, and I’m suspecting it might be a total rout with the Democrats dropping to near insignificance.

Either way, Trump will continue his take-over of the GOP and the GOP will continue its takeover of the American government. Much, MUCH more losing ahead for Democrats. With the trend toward doubling down on Leftist ideas (if baby babble can be said to be “ideas”) Democrats have not learned the right lessons and seem incapable of reforming their party into something relevant to the current zeitgeist.

Roy Moore was a perennial failed candidate. He wasn't liked by the GOP Establishment down there, either, which probably depressed turnout. He ran for governor and lost too, I think. But yeah, Doug Jones is gonna be bye bye next election.

As for the dirt, what happened to all the accusers? Seem to have lost interest - just like the Trump Sex Harassment Accusers. POOF!

I think Democrats overestimated their battle cry of “gender choice is a civil liberty issue #1”. Turning once party into a giant feminist and gay pride parade just disgusted America.

LOL You rubes are just too easy

That bit about the Senate is outright ignorant. How do you gerrymander a Senate election when the whole state is the district? The "23 million more votes" could only mean something like a Democrat Senator from a high population state got more votes than a Republican Senator form a low population state. Talk about a "rube."

The Real Estate Bubble of the early 2000's and the consequent crash destroyed classic Redlines of the Haves and the Have Nots.
Now every community has Have nots. The classic Brown town on the other side of the tracks underwent gentrification and the poor Democrat voters were tossed out.
As a result Section 8 housing is right next door to you, your neighbor renting a house in your typical median income neighborhood is HUD section 8 renter.
They are not condensed into 20 block sections that outlay contentious districts that can be co-oped into a cohesive voting block to affect the election results one way or another.

Like it or not that is the fact. Gerrymandering is an archaic concept that has no real practical application anymore where the Liberal Plantation is not clearly defined.
That was the whole point of "redlining" neighborhoods in the New Deal era to preserve future elections to go to the Democrats.

Check out the core values of the Democrat party. We can stop blaming Trump for any other reason than not being your typical Republican or a Democrat.
The fact he can actually bring visions to fruition is only a bonus.
