While the fight was a close as expected - given the massive amounts of cash both parties spent - the winner of Ohio's special House election is Trump-backed Republican Troy Balderson.

Additionally, Trump-backed Iraq war veteran John James has won Michigan's GOP Primary to take on Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow this fall.

Of course - two things are now about to happen:

1) a recount will be demanded... and

2) Russian interference will somehow be blamed.

and, as a additional teaching point, this is why the Electoral College exists in this country:

Socialist star Ocasio-Cortez strikes out: All endorsed candidates lose Tuesday primaries.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s record on Tuesday night for her chosen primary candidates was as bare as a Venezuelan supermarket shelf.

Cortez held a whirl-wind tour of the U.S., stumping for Abdul El-Sayed for governor of Michigan, Fayrouz Saad in Michigan’s 11th Congressional District, Cori Bush in Missouri’s 1st District, and is backing Congressional candidate Kaniela Ing in Hawaii.

El-Sayed lost his bid for the Democrat nomination for governor to 50.1 percent to 34.6 percent, according to numbers published by the New York Times.

Saad came in fourth in the five-way race, capturing only 20.1 percent of the vote.

Cori Bush lost her primary to William Lacy Clay, 62.3 percent to 30.2 percent, the Times results show.

Waiting for Leon to show up and tell us this was a "win" for the Dems, because they LOST by few points less than expected in 5, 4, 3, .....

What are they waiting for, the rest of the 120% of the votes from the dead Democrats in Franklin County to come in?

...Danny O’Connor is a total puppet for Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters – Danny wants to raise your taxes, open your borders, and take away your 2nd Amendment. Vote for Troy on Tuesday!

When I decided to go to Ohio for Troy Balderson, he was down in early voting 64 to 36. That was not good. After my speech on Saturday night, there was a big turn for the better. Now Troy wins a great victory during a very tough time of the year for voting. He will win BIG in Nov.

James has a good chance at dethroning Stebenow.
13   Shaman   2018 Aug 8, 4:47am

Truly this was a win for Trump. All his candidates won, and his support showed with the critical race in Ohio bringing the right candidate across the finish line despite heavy Democrat party interference and unanimous media predictions of a Dem win.

I can feel the temperature drop, and the ghost of JoeyJoeJoe and Errc saying "Losing by a little is HUGE!".

When of course, the National Dem Orgs and the Candidate with out-of-state big donors, outspent Balderson, Just like the Georgia Election, which also featured a crowded Republican field with unknowns. And, being a special election, no incumbent, so comparison with incumbent percentages from Tiberi's repeat victories are flawed. Incumbency is worth a several percentage points by itself.

Now it's back to blaming the Green Party, even though they got half of one percent which is pretty typical, and the votes for the Green wouldn't have put O'Connor over the top.

Interesting, but pretty clsoe. But heartening Ocasio has no clout-now if only Warren loses in MA.

I don’t know much about the race but this one looks bad all the way around. Will voters choose a GOPe candidate or give Pelosi another Democrat to order about?
It’s still better than my choice for Senate...

That's actually within the realm of possibility. She's not a shoe-in for reelection.

Democrats Blame Russians For Ohio Loss, Turn On The Green Party!

They’re blaming Russia for their loss and saying the Green Party are agents of the Russkies!

Leftists are having a total meltdown after losing once again in Ohio’s special election on Tuesday!

They’re blaming Russia for their loss and saying the Green Party are agents of the Russkies!

Here’s some of the highlights from Twitter:

25   RC2006   2018 Aug 8, 1:05pm

Keep fucking loosing lol. If Hillary had won libs would be waving Soviet Union flags, cracks me up how bad Trump has them all turned around.
26   MrMagic   2018 Aug 8, 2:03pm

So the Blue team rolled in 10% to 15% MORE voters into Franklin County and Delaware County and still couldn't win...

..."In both Franklin County, which includes Columbus, and Delaware County, the fast-growing suburb just north of Ohio’s capital, 42 percent of voters turned out. But in the five more lightly populated counties that round out the district, turnout ranged from 27 to 32 percent. "

The most significant harbinger from the Ohio race may not be the narrow margin, but the turnout gap between the most and least heavily populated parts of a district that absorbs the close-in suburbs of Columbus and rural stretches of central Ohio."

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/08/us/politics/election-results-ohio-kansas-michigan.html

If the repubs decide to turnout and show up in November, it will be a massacre.

Another notch for Trump!

Kansas governor concedes defeat to Trump-backed Kobach.

Kansas Gov. Jeff Colyer conceded defeat to Trump-backed Secretary of State Kris Kobach in their Republican gubernatorial primary Tuesday, after a week of vote-counting in the close race.

“This election is probably the closest in America,” Colyer said in brief remarks Tuesday evening. “But the numbers are just not there, unless we were to go to extraordinary measures. But Kansas is too important.”
