I’ve always been a car enthusiast. I’ve owned classic Mustangs, 5-liter Mustangs, Corvettes, etc.

As life got more complicated, I sold my toys and don’t currently have any car to tinker on.

Does anyone here own a toy/hobby car?

I’d like to get back into it eventually and would choose from one of the following:

67-68 Mustang
67-69 Camaro
E46 M3 (01-06)
FD RX7 (93-95)
C6 Z06 Corvette
Datsun 240z

All very different cars above that I’d potentially purchase for very different reasons.

What do you own?

I own a maybe dull but great car. It doesn't fit in with anyone's idea of a "classic car" but boy is it fun as hell to drive. It's a Volvo S60 T5 2013.

The car is cool looking especially from the front. In sport mode the thing hauls ass with the turbo and it handles awesome on the freeway. I've never driven an better car for long trips.

For a fun car I would buy a BMW convertible with a 4 cylinder and a stick shift. I once drove a BMW 318i which was really fun to drive.

In the 70's I drove a couple of American cars from the 60's, a Barracuda and a Mustang. I didn't like the handling and freeway driving.

I once owned a 71 Chevy Nova which I regret selling. i would buy another Chevy Nova if I could with the straight 6 and if I could have disc brakes in front as a modification. That Nova was fun to drive around. I sold it to some hippie types in Santa Cruz for $500.

All the fun cars I had were in my teens and early 20s they were all late 60s 70s cars, bought them all for under 2k and now when I look for some of the same cars they are over 40k.

2006 GTO M6, factory 18" wheels. Koni and Lovells suspension with Superpro and Whiteline bushings. Working on a brake upgrade. Also looking at a LS3 based bottom-end 416 build with Mamo 220 or Sportsman series heads, custom set of stepped long tubes and a custom exhaust incorporating Chevrolet SS sedan NPP (selective exhaust) mufflers to keep it quiet when it needs to be.

Ls3 based 416 will keep a smile on your face

I DD a Subaru WRX. Great fun. I love all cars, American muscle, Japanese, European, etc... but I've driven the snot out of this little sled and it's been the most damned reliable thing I've ever owned.

Wife said I could have a project. Gen B Miata. Totally impractical but really fun to drive. The inline 4 is bulletproof and there is room for a turbo or supercharger under the hood, but I'm too old for that kind of trouble.
So far I've overhauled the suspension and brakes, tires, a new convertible top, and a rollbar. I do all the work myself.

Glad to hear there are some enthusiasts here.

That Miata and an ls1 are likes peas and carrots ?

98 firebird, not a daily driver though. It’s a fun car. Fast as hell, but corners like a boat though.

This old codger still favors 2 wheels.

What transportation is all about.

Naugahyde park bench seats with a big depression and a hole in the driver seat side from millions of bean farts would round out the beauty. Perhaps a hole in the floor to watch the road go by.
Americans have lost their sense of car romance.

Those are fun I had a gold 79 TransAm 6.6L with big bird on hood and gold wheels.

Cool, got any pics?

The LS1 was an absolute game changer. No engine has been part of more motor swaps than the LS1, and for good reason.

I think a 67-68 camaro with updated brakes and suspension along with a well built 416 LS3 and T56 would be my dream car.

Clear out the empty bottles and bladder without having to pull over, an essential amenity.

You can sometimes drop beer bottles and doobies before they are finished, what a waste. However, no fast food clutter. It's like having a garbage disposal in your car.
