BOSTON (AP) — A Boston newspaper is calling for a coordinated EDITORIAL response to President Donald Trump's frequent attacks on the news media.

The Boston Globe has appealed to newspapers across the U.S. to publish editorials on Aug. 16 denouncing what it calls a "dirty war against the free press."

The Globe says it's appealing to editorial boards to take a stand regardless of their politics and whether they generally editorialize for or against the president's policies.

Trump often characterizes the media as "fake news" and journalists as his true political opponents.

Marjorie Pritchard, who oversees the Globe's editorial page, says dozens of newspapers have agreed so far to write their own editorials. She says they include both large metropolitan dailies along with many smaller publications.

Notice how they want it to be a EDITORIAL War, not a FACTUAL War.

They can't produce FACTS to support their Liberal narratives, so they will resort to OPINIONS to force their narratives.

Can you say FAKE news?

So, the globe wants to have coordinated attacks against Trump now?

Really?

Isn't that what they've been already doing the last two years?

The media is out in full soyboy force. There's nothing positive coming out on the web anymore at all. Instead the headlines pushed to the top are some cunt claiming the Trumpster once was rays cyst in her book (!). That goes as (fake) news these days. TDS has not peaked yet is the only conclusion here.

I have family members that are vehemently against Trump, but I don't wish to silence them or their opinions. I welcome discussing and debating all viewpoints, ESPECIALLY those I disagree with.

How is this different than what they do 24x7???

In 1980 I lived in Mexico and the ruling dictatorship party had been in power for 60 years or so. The PRI party had also an iron grip on TV networks.

The PRI dictatorship eventually ended, one reason was some new TV networks.

The Boston Globe is a failed paper like the NY Times is failing because people don't like the liberal slant of their reporting.

People are just not as liberal as the media wishes they were.

The reason the media is whining is that they are losing the war of public opinion. Everyone knows the media is controlled by liberals and people hate the media. Trump will never quit bashing it because he knows people love to hear him do it. Everyone knows that George Bush was "presidential" to the extreme and never fought back, neither did Romney.

Two Reasons:
1. FEAR. The Journalism industry is taking a beating and everybody associated with Newspapers, not just Journalists, are in fear of losing their jobs.
2. ENTITLEMENT TO INFLUENCE. They became Journalists to "Change the World" motivated by Left Wing Ideas. 3, Owners political preferences that HAVE to be shoved onto the rest of USA population.

And in an attempt to fight back against what she calls Trump's "dirty war against the free press," AP reports that The Globe has reached out to editorial boards nationwide to write and publish editorials on Aug. 16 denouncing the President's comments.
Collusion?

As of Friday, Pritchard said about 70 outlets had committed to editorials so far, with the list expected to grow.

The publications ranged from large metropolitan dailies, such as the Houston Chronicle, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Miami Herald and Denver Post, to small weekly papers with circulations as low as 4,000.

Pritchard, who oversees the Globe's editorial page, said the decision to seek the coordinated response from newspapers was reached after Trump appeared to step up his rhetoric in recent weeks.

"I hope it would educate readers to realize that an attack on the First Amendment is unacceptable," she said.

"We are a free and independent press, it is one of the most sacred principles enshrined in the Constitution."

There is something ironic about a 'free and independent' press being coerced to collude on the same story against their President.

And, this already happened:

15   MrMagic   2018 Aug 12, 7:59am

Now it's up to over 100 newspapers...

More than 100 newspapers will publish editorials decrying Trump's anti-press rhetoric.

As of Saturday, "we have more than 100 publications signed up, and I expect that number to grow in the coming days," Marjorie Pritchard, the Globe's deputy editorial page editor, told CNN.

The coordinated editorials may be another example of unity across the news business.

Pritchard said she expects differing views from the editorials, "but the same sentiment: The importance of a free and independent press."

Isn't that a Oxymoron... "coordinated" and "independent"??

Who owns these papers? The Worker's Press Coop? Or mostly a handful of corps?

Betcha 80-90 out of 100 are owned by the same 4-5 companies.

I was thinking the same thing. Trump goes after MSM for anti-trust violations!! That would be amazing!
19   MrMagic   2018 Aug 12, 1:12pm

Give it your best shot...

20   MrMagic   2018 Aug 12, 1:13pm

CNN proudly crows that the coordinated editorials may be another example of unity across the news business, or, as we noted previously, another example of supreme hypocrisy - as a 'free and independent' press being coerced to collude on the same story against their President.

21   Patrick   2018 Aug 12, 1:38pm

It would be great if one renegade paper dissented, pointing out correctly that the press has in fact abandoned all objectivity in reporting about Trump, and thus has abandoned journalism itself.
22   MrMagic   2018 Aug 15, 9:41pm

...It's good thing they're all "free and independent" and don't collude on editorials... Oops, oh, wait....

Almost 350 news outlets to publish editorials denouncing Trump's 'dirty war' on press .

Nearly 350 news organizations are set to publish editorials on Thursday pushing back against Donald Trump’s attacks on the media and defending freedom of the press.

The publications are participating in a push organized by the Boston Globe to run coordinated editorials denouncing what the paper called a “dirty war against the free press”.

As of Wednesday morning, 343 publications had pledged to participate, said Marjorie Pritchard, the Globe’s deputy managing editor overseeing the opinion page.

Considering that the Boston Herald is a failed tabloid style major paper, it looks like the City of Boston no longer has a major newspaper anymore if the Globe goes under.
