I guess this is why purses are so darned expensive: handles that will never break away under any kind of stress.

Gawd damn animals

And remember folks, since our society is filled with animals, don’t carry $75k cash on you ever.

Shocking. Proper decorum clearly calls for taking the money after you run over the victim. What is the world coming to?

They look like baboons with their pants hanging low. This is why we rank so bad on that list with issues of crime, violence, and guns.

Wonder what will happen to the perps. Hopefully the criminal justice system doesn’t take a page out of the Fish and Game’s “catch and release” program.

And I wonder what the legitimate $75k cash was needed for that couldn’t have been transacted in another way or at the bank with two parties.

I thought that was strange, too, that it wasn't taken care of in a more secure manner like when the bank was open and other customers were around. And how specifically did they know what she had?

cash from gas station she owns I think. May be also used to pay employees under the table which is really common in Houston ethnic neighborhoods, which I can not blame her for. Or pay contractors who will give you discount if you pay in cash.

Somebody carrying $75K in cash didn't have $400 for a fucking Glock?

This is one of the good arguments for Georgism, which means the taxation of land values alone, and never taxation of labor or commerce.

You can't hide land, and you cannot evade the tax when all land records are public.

Under Georgism, there would be no need to pay anyone under the table, or keep tax records (except about land), or to give anyone a discount for cash, or "do your taxes" at all. The savings in record-keeping and filing alone would be immense.

difficult to establish land value, subject to crony appraisals, otherwise looks like a sound idea. Crony tax exemptions are unavoidable also now

Exactly my thoughts too... this took place in Texas, not NYC..

What idiot would carry that sum of money and not be packing in Texas?

Let the market do it.

Whatever people are willing to pay for the land should determine its value. It's easier than most appraisals because there is no building to consider, only the land itself.

Probably they have carried money around for years and nothing ever happened. They said that someone at bank had tipped the robbers off.

..."A second vehicle pulled up after the SUV and another suspect got out of the car, said Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman. "That’s the individual that we got some pretty good quality video of.""

(Houston is in Harris County)

HOUSTON - A group of criminals targeted and violently attacked a couple outside a business in northwest Houston Friday morning.

Deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office say one of the suspects is in custody and the other three are on the run.

Would work, just need some way to prevent market manipulation which will lead to monopolies and government imposed scarcity.

So, how do you propose determining "whatever people are willing to pay" for some plot of land which hasn't changed hands for decades? If assesments are not cosher and historical sale price bears no relation to what the land might fetch now, what's the "taxable value" of said plot?

If you think about it, those business owners deserved it given their white privilege. This is what the government does, so these "criminals" are only helping the government out.

white privilege

not sure if white or Asian privilege (craploads of small business owners in Houston are either Vietnamese or South Asian), but you are conceptually correct - they DESERVED this because they are productive members of society.
