Why was Michael Cohen investigated? Because the “Steele dossier” had him making secret trips to meet with Russians that never happened, so his business dealings got a thorough scrubbing and, in the process, he fell into the special counsel’s Manafort bin — the bin reserved for squeezing until the juice comes out.

The plot to get President Trump out of office thickens, as Cohen obviously was his own mini-crime syndicate and decided that his betrayals of Trump meant he would be better served turning on his old boss to cut the best deal with prosecutors he could rather than holding out and getting the full Manafort treatment. That was clear the minute he hired attorney Lanny Davis, who doesn’t try cases and did past work for Hillary Clinton.

Cohen had recorded his client, trying to entrap him, sold information about Trump (while acting as his lawyer) to corporations for millions of dollars, and didn’t pay taxes on millions.

The sweetener for the prosecutors, of course, was getting Cohen to plead guilty to campaign finance violations that were not campaign finance violations.

Lanny Davis was on Bloomberg this morning and made this statement.

"Prosecutors presented Cohen with the plea deal THEY wanted him to take". Read that again, the prosecutors WROTE the plea they wanted him to agree to. Who do the prosecutors work for?

Mueller.

What is Mueller's game plan all along?

Cohen will agree to ANYTHING that might save his hide....

He's already the the most tainted State's witness the world has ever seen.
He was running an "Ear with the King" operation. You can't get much more self serving than that.

Let me tell you Nematodes the only way Trump goes down is if the day before Mueller lowers the hammer of justice on him. He puts Hillary, Holder, Rice, Lynch, Obama, Comey, Orr, Strzok all in handcuffs and gives them the perp walk infront of the camera days or weeks before he does.

Or there will be a Constitutional crisis when Trump fires the whole Justice department trying to use the Justice Department as the Democrat and Globalist's personal weapon.

We'll all be here the next day listening to Liberals lament what a dictator Trump is while we all laugh at the shitbirds.

In this lawless political times, the guy with the biggest Dick and acts first wins. We're so far off the rails of Law, it plays no role in any of it. So don't come bitching about laws when Trump puts an end to this lawless shit.

and now he has Lanny Davis (who has the stink of the Clintons all over him) as his attorney. Gee, I wonder why that is...

Davis was making the rounds on all the news shows this morning trying to manipulate the Court of Public Opinion on Trump.

I wonder why that is?? Things getting to close to the Clintons, maybe?

Davis claimed Cohen had his "epithany" after watching the Helsinki summit with Putin. Really?? A tax evading crook "wakes up" after watching a press conference??

Just what idiot will believe this shit?
6   MrMagic   2018 Aug 22, 3:27pm

Lanny Davis has been stepping on his dick all day today. jumping from one interview to the other. Why do this, if you're not trying to sway everyone's opinion on a weak case?

Even Wolf Blitzer just nailed Davis on the fact that Cohen, an attorney, knew he was making these potentially illegal payments. Isn't he an attorney, and shouldn't Cohen be advising his client about illegal payments instead of making these payments out of his OWN account?

I'm surprised Wolfie would nail him on that.
7   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Aug 22, 4:16pm

Good thing Trump is a Republican. If this was Clinton, Michael Cohen would have committed suicide long ago.

I'm wanna put some money down that this is a Trump-Sting Heel Flip.

Meanwhile, Lanny Davis is a registered foreign agent for Ukrainian Oligarch Dmytro Firtash

Oh, and Davis himself denied the Steele Dossier's 13 mentions of Michael Cohen.

Guess who is still Following and Follwed by the entire Trump Clan?

I was shocked that all day long when NPR quoted Trump's Tweets on the Manafort and Cohen outcomes. They didn't try to spin the context of what Trump meant by those words.
They did a good job of thinking it was in bad taste to commend Manafort for not breaking and changing his testimony. But they didn't twist it by claiming "Oh that's only something a guilty person would say, and he was saying he's glad he didn't roll over on him like Cohen did."

I must say I was impressed by NPR's coverage today on the ride in and home today.

This is getting weird, Davis is out saying he has no evidence of Trump ordering Cohen to pay-except Cohen's word-the guy who plead guilty to multiple felonies? Is the special counsel wanting to drop this case and just declare victory and move on. This is getting more and more weird by the hour.

It does make one question Trump's judgement to have a scumbag like this on retainer.

Theres obviously a lot more to this story.

I think originally he was fine. Trump has a bunch of lawyers, Cohen wasn't the only one.

Greed got to Cohen, with his "pay to play", making people think he had access to Trump. Remember, Cohen has a separate consulting business and made millions from companies hoping to get access and favorable business dealings with President Trump.

Now, Cohen is in MAJOR CYA mode, and agreed to sign ANYTHING the prosecutor put in front of him, that might shorten his sentence. And since it's a guilty plea, there will be no trial for the real facts to come out.

Nice hand the prosecutors played... the question is, can Cohen retract the guilty plea on the campaign finance law he broke, since there wasn't one?

OK, let's see if there's any truth to that statement. From YOUR link.

....."Giuliani, formed a consulting firm called Giuliani Partners in 2002, shortly after his tenure as New York City mayor came to an end. According to a 2007 New York Times investigation into the firm’s connections to Purdue, the drugmaker was Giuliani Partners’ “first and longest-running client” and hired Giuliani to convince “public officials that they could trust Purdue because they could trust him.”

So, Giuliani did the job he was HIRED and PAID to do??

That's so un-American.... faithfully providing a service that you're paid to do... He should be executed!!

Cohen put in his plea deal as the principal. It was accepted by the prosecutors.

What does that mean, he plead as the principal, and the prosecution accepted that?

Hint: Kamala Harris accused Trump today of something that the plea deal makes impossible.

This is a witchhunt, pure and simple. The American people see this, and will continue to #walkaway as long as this mockery of the justice system continues.

Go after the actual criminals, perhaps Manafort and certainly Cohen qualify...but using them as open doors to setup trump at will is a "Show me the man and I'll show you the crime" type tyranny. All this while ignoring actual crimes from their establishment team. Its gross man. This is a sad, sad time for our US institutions.

I hope Trump pardons all of them, then fires Mueller and every holdover from Obama, then revokes all security clearances for anyone not still in government. It's time to drop the hammer.

He can't be an co-conspirator, since Cohen plea names himself as the prime mover.

So the Dems hope of this opening up the door to something is rubbish.

Of course, the Dems could impeach Trump for anything, since there's no established limit to "High Crimes and Misdemeanors".

The prosecutors required him to also plead guilty to the non-crimes of Fundraising Violations along with his real crimes of Tax Dodging to make a political point.
26   Shaman   2018 Aug 23, 8:39am

Yes the Dems could but holy fuck what a horrible precedent that would set! Get a majority of opposition party in Congress and impeach! Still, they are stupid enough to do it. And then whine about it like Chuck Schumer does about judicial confirmations when HE set the rule that a simple majority was all that was necessary. Of course that was when they wanted to seat the wise Latina and Kagan, some of the most Leftist activist nominees ever chosen.

Plus, Cohen is the attorney in the relationship, and should know the laws, and advise his client accordingly.

Exactly... the prosecution wrote the plea deal and told him to sign it. The prosecution added the non-crime of the non-campaign payment, knowing that there won't be a trial where they could be proven wrong.
