An olde acquaintance of mine has issues with future Sex Robots. I don't believe that his ideas are valid.

First of all, let me give you his profile...

He's a semi-retired clinical psychologist, who's now pushing ~60, but has never married, and has only had a live in girlfriend for 3 years tops. Otherwise, he's a perpetual bachelor with regular periodic relationships which went nowhere after a year or two.

Today, he's still talking about soulmates and how two ppl together, can be greater than the sum of the two. WTF!

So from his perspective, even if Sex Robots were as realistic as in the original 'Blade Runner', since that was his generation's most talked about Noir Sci-Fi, since automatrons lacked "true" consciousness, he wouldn't want one, period!

For me, a person like him makes zero sense. For one, he's not getting any younger and two, no perfect wife is throwing herself into his lap. So why is he acting like he's 25, with all the time in the world ahead of him? Most ppl give up on 'love', in they haven't found it come age 45.

Consciousness doesn't matter! It's about feeling a warm body and getting one's cock wet which does!

Consequences are another topic.

Ok, so then let's talk about consequences.

For a man, way past his prime, talking about soulmates and other such BS ... what will his life look like when he's 70 and the hair coloring no longer masks the fact that he's over the hill and hasn't been able to secure a long term relationship, but is still talking like some idealistic bozo in his late 20s?
2   curious2   2018 Aug 23, 5:23pm

Rin, I begin finally to see your point on this topic, and I have what might possibly be a good investment idea for you, since you are way ahead of most people on this topic.

An issue you have not acknowledged, and that may have caused others not to see the value of these robots, is that different people want different things.

You might like someone who looks like a particular celebrity, and you have stated explicitly what you want with that person (or, in future, robot).

Other people do actually want a relationship, not because "society" tells them to want that, but because that is how they are wired inside. Look at gay married couples, for example: "society" did not tell them to do that, in fact it told them not to. People do what they do for reasons of their own.

So, here's the idea: licensing deals with actual celebrities. When a million screaming girls show up at a Justin Bieber concert, imagining they might get a chance to go home with him, now they can have their very own Justin Bieber, AND HE WILL PERSONALLY look in on some of them. If he likes what he sees, he might show up at their house, or invite them to his. In that way, your robot can become part of their dream, the relationship they long for.

The robots could even score people based on how well they approximate what the celebrity would actually like. Getting the high score on Paris Hilton could be the next PlayStation or Twitch.

You can thank me later, as you count your billions on your own private continent.

I've been beaten by Matt McMullen, the founder of RealDoll, on this matter.

His company can take a person's request for a famous person, i.e. Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, etc, and work with some tools which mimics the facsimile to some extent but has enough variance from it, not to evoke a lawsuit from that person's estate.

Trust me, this is a common request among their patrons.

Respectfully, that is a different idea. It is more in line with objectification and using a facsimile for a physical experience. A licensing deal with the actual person, including some theoretical potential for a real relationship with that person, is the opposite. He might eventually do both, but they are different ideas.

For now, Matt's been able to only get a few porn stars, and believe it or not, Stormy Daniels, to go along with that business plan, looks/persona.

And yes, in time, his AI software will be able to create modified personalities, which can be whatever a person wants. For now, the pilot project will be a Scottish gal, Harmony. But it's only 2018, the future's wide open once the first few models have their bugs worked out.

This is surprisingly enough a persistent, embedded, appetitive bio-circuit in the romantic brains of some men, immune to aging and to the multiple comparators of failed actual relationships.

I know an older dude of 78, (divorced twice) who just decked out a new home with a nice Porsche, and he tells me he is ready for romance and has had a puppy dog crush on a much younger neighbor and hopes she will grace him with her attentions seriously. He couldn't be more dumfuk or dumstick if he was a kid. His sister makes merciless fun of him.

The romantic delusion is a pleasure circuit he wants to water at least once more.

I heard him talking to another old croaker and they chuckled about their cars "I never knew how shallow women were until I got a nice sports car!" Of course, OWNING the sports car isn't shallow, it's masculine and strategic.
7   Rin   2018 Aug 23, 9:35pm

Ppl look, I'd drop all this stuff, if the guy were honest.

In other words, if he said that he were happily married, and that he and his wife woke up together in the morning, decade after decade, and looked forward to the days ahead.

If the aforementioned were the case, I'd back away and fade into the background.

Instead, none of those happy sailing diatribes are there. What I see is a load of BS and the fact that for the most part, many ppl don't have a 'happy ever after' story.

Do you gauge happiness by how ensconced your dick is on a daily basis?

Apparently if you can't find flesh then a bit of latex and vinyl will do.

If you can find that sort of comfort in a robot, a female form only. Then eventually the novelty of it will ware off, and wont be any different than pestorkling a hole in your bed mattress.
You also assume that there's not people out there that don't share your bliss by getting the same satisfaction from just a wank.

Once again, ppl miss the point. It's not a 'novelty' thing. Remember my thread on the Tesla driver ...

http://patrick.net/post/1318339/2018-08-20-i-have-a-friend-who-drives-a-tesla-i-say-so-what

That's a novelty, where paying for a spin in a noiseless EV, does wear itself out and then, the person is once again, a wage slave during the following month.

I'm talking about a whole lifestyle where one writes a novel, does his own scientific research, enjoys fine food & drinks, and then yes, like any heterosexual male out there, periodically bangs a robot because in the USA, seeing hoes is illegal. Plus, you do need to have to deal with another person and a lots of times, you just don't really want to hear what they have to say.

This is what the Rin-Wah way is suppose to be ...

Enjoy the sites and sensations ...

And some Rock 'n Roll ...

I've got no problem with the robot route. But the above seems to be your biggest issue. You mention it a lot. Have you ever tried to change this? At least in your municipality, county or state? Technically I think it's a states right issues, just like weed and the fed gov. will look the other way. You have mentioned that you're a man of means, can this not be accomplished? Or are there concerns about personal perception if you went at legalizing hoes in your city/state?

I only say this, because sooooooo many people bitch about stuff around them and don't do anything. If you're cool with the robots and don't care in the meantime, that's fine by me. But it sounds like you like fucking hoes, so why not try to make that happen? It's America man. If you want to fuck hoes on the East Coast, don't let gov/laws stop you. Change them.

Haven't you been reading my threads? That's called Montreal QC, 5 hours north of Boston.

And no, there have been so many police sting operations across Massachusetts, that you'd think that there was no real crime in the Bay State. So yes, ppl are being actively persecuted by the govt on matters which are no one else's business.

No proper Yankee talks about this stuff. Realize, even our President is being actively hounded because of these kinds of activities, since they can't seem to prove the Russian money laundering stuff.

He's being hounded because he's Trump and said some fucked up shit during the election process. None of what he said bothers me, but people just want to tear him down, because the person that can't do a whole lot, if anything for them, lost (HRC). Trump can't do much either.

And yes, I've read your threads. How did Nevada do it? All I'm saying is if there's a will there's a way. And that's why I asked about the perception of trying to be a driver in legalizing it in your area. While conservatives are in charge of a lot, we as people have become more liberal in these types of realms. The so called religious sins. Just have to present it on a silver platter and make it a win win for the gov. and the people. Jobs.

Since my consulting role is in public relations, being a voice for legalizing it in New England would be the equivalent of handing in my notice.

And as for Nevada, I'd say that it was more or less a stunted story, as it's relegated to the desert counties and not permitted in any urban density region like Las Vegas or Reno.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_in_Nevada

Realize, in Montreal, you can bring an escort to the casino on the isle & take her all over the urban landscape, where there are things to do besides just drinking and boinking.

The US is run by Puritans. And what's pathetic is that all of this is allowed in Mother England, which makes me wonder why there was ever a revolution to begin with? I mean it was what? 3-4% taxes? Please, in contrast, today's taxes or fees on just about everything are ridiculous.

Got it. That's what I figured. Just need to find a person you can get behind and is charismatic enough to get the job done that doesn't have a job to lose. No easy task for sure, but they're out there. Probably not happening soon, but if you could live 100 years longer, this time period is going to look like a joke in my opinion. Robot and/or legal hoe wise.

I find it interesting, at least in the sex department, it's okay for government to tell us what we can and can't do with the other sex and why they can say money can't be exchanged for it. It's fucked up if you think about it. We all fuck (as long as we're not losers), what difference does it make if currency is exchanged? Like we're literally talking about cash or a credit swipe, of money I earned.

As a side note, if my wife ever stumbles upon an open window and explores patnet, I'm happy as can be with our sex life. Probably more then most.

This is almost a proverb - the man is so happy and content he does not notice the woman may not be. In some cases, maybe the lady would like to spice it up with a three-way.

It's not a bad idea really. Not my cup of tea at all. But there are idiots that would pay $10k for a Paris Hilton robot, and getting her for the high score, in person? Any celeb that licensed onto that, if they're popular enough, could make a cool couple million for potentially having to have sex with one person that bought the damn thing. Life could be much worse for both parties. It's a classic win win I would say.

That clearly is a robot/sex doll. As I've said, no problem with the idea, but at some point it's just photos of men masturbating with a sex toy. No problem with real porn, but if there ain't a real chick there, not interested in seeing men masterbate.

This photo is the exact reason why I don't think sex robots will work until the AI is MUCH, MUCH better. WTF is "it" looking at. Eye contact during that activity can cause an eruption quicker. Talking dirty can do it too. Plenty of other methods. Might as well start a business face fucking cadavers.

Good luck in the endeavors/idea, I'll come across as being a dick (not the intention), but that photo is not even 1% appealing.

So you're taking the state of the art tech of 2010 (actually, make that 1995. yes, it's old now) and projecting that out into 2030.

Seriously, the first head with roving eyes is only coming out at the end of this calendar year, 2018.

And 5G isn't going mainstream until 2020.

Admittedly didn't know when the photo was from. Not bashing. Just telling it how I see it. That bot/doll entices me 0%.

Again, no problem with the idea. To each their own. I love getting a BJ from the real deal and they make breakfast in the morning. I'm probably a unicorn, but I don't even have to work right now because of the real deal. Ain't happening with a bot. Obviously I'm biased.

Don't doubt that. 20 years strong though. 10 married, 10 dating. We're tight. There are consequences to cheating or divorce if you get what I'm saying.

Fellow Illinoisan here, as I think you know. Yeah, you're not changing the property taxes here. Once the gravy train started and the revenue poured in, there is/was no turning back. I wish you luck, but I lucked into low property taxes and also know you're going to need a legit army to change anything in a meaningful way here.

For the 2nd time in just over a year, my wife is being offered a well paying job in CO. We're very close to pulling the trigger, even though we lucked out with our purchase around 2012 and still have MASSIVELY low IL property taxes. We're leaning towards doing it though. The offer will be there next year too, so there's no rush and would probably be more money next year. I can work anywhere. IL is fucked as I think we've discussed in other threads.

Lol, a sex robot thread got derailed into IL bullshit. Classic patnet.
