Couldn't happen to a better scumbag, RINO, Traitor, nice honest American.
2   Tenpoundbass   2018 Aug 24, 2:26pm

NPR and Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island had his legacy bent over the desk and they were tossing his salad. Oh what a hero he was that he broke with mean old Trump.
He should have been in Leavenworth at least twice.
3   WookieMan   2018 Aug 24, 2:52pm

Listen, no fan of McCain. I get he got into politics, so his life is essentially public. Below the belt though in my book. Just let the guy die and move on with your life. If you don't like his policies, bus toss the other part of the majority (D or R) that went along with anything he voted for. Giving McCain shit is even more silly then saying Trump makes laws like it seems a lot of people think.

McCain spent the 90s attacking POW-MIA groups in the nastiest, most vindictive way. it went beyond skepticism, probably because his financiers wanted a free trade agreement with Vietnam and nothing to get in the way.

I'm not saying McCain is some trophy politician that did all good by any stretch. Dude is dying. I know some people will take enjoyment in that, but it's still sad. He's not the pope for sure. But dancing on his grave before he's buried is a little unbecoming. Patnet isn't a church, but at times it would be nice to see a little decorum.
6   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Aug 25, 6:46pm

McCain did NO good.

He was deeply involved in the Savings and Loan Scandaland part of the Keating Five. He was only spared because both Parties made a deal that John Glenn would largely get off in exchange for John McCain.

He pushed every intervention that ever was.

He was a little brat whose Admiral Dad status got him out of several unbelievably dangerous stunts from the powerlines in Spain to the rocket malfunction on the Aircraft Carrier and his bottom of the class performance at the Academy. Any of these alone would have destroyed the career of any other officer.

He attacked POW-MIA families that demanded fresh investigations into the status of Missing US troops, with vigor and vitriol, despite being a POW himself, because a Free Trade with Vietnam deal was in the works. He reworked POW-MIA bills and sponsored Token Fake Reform bills watered down the powers to obtain records, and made those records difficult to obtain or share. Interestingly, he eliminated any attempt to hold Pentagon Officials criminally responsible for preventing the release of, or altering, POW-MIA records. Google "Pave Spike MIA".

He betrayed his own voters by refusing to cancel a program he specifically campaigned to destroy - Obamacare.

Then he sponsored a dodgy dossier to undermine his party's own candidate.

There's more I can't think of off the top of my head, but he was the consummate corrupt, shitty Modern Era Politician whose absence will help the country move forward.

It might be bad to gloat, but I find the undeserved, "Mandatory" reverence to be appalling.

Mccain was NOT a good guy (in fact he was pretty terrible) but I hope he died easy and didn't suffer.

Best I can muster for such an individual.
9   Booger   2018 Aug 25, 7:13pm

Anyone here have him in their dead pool?
10   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Aug 25, 7:16pm

Here's McCain using his position to browbeat the POW-MIA organization's chairwoman to tears, whose Brother, an airman, went missing over North Vietnam.

Something to remember when thinking of McCain.
11   Booger   2018 Aug 25, 7:29pm

Does this mean that we can repeal Obamacare now?

Defintely one less "No" vote now.

Nah, I don't think so..

Lefties don't have a brain, this is why they need government to tell them everything they need to do.

How do you get your cancer treatment stopped on Friday, and die the next day?

It's not like they pulled the plug in the ICU or took him off of life support.

Weird stuff. The more you know.

You've clearly never had a friend or family member with cancer or a severe illness if you don't understand what happened. Stopping treatment has little to do with his actual condition. Many cancer patients die while still receiving treatment, even though there aren't signs of imminent death. There are patients that cut treatment because they can't stand it and live another year. Staying on the treatment is a determining factor, but just because it stopped Friday and he dies the next day means nothing and is by any means weird.

Yeah my colleague died of cancer, two months from diagnosis to death. She ahs two teenage kids-luckily still has a husband. I was in a meeting with her and working on a project with her -diagnosis hit and two months later she was gone. Who knew it could take out a previously healthy 40+ year old so quick..

I think Andy Whitmore-the guy who played Spartacus got diagnosed and died pretty quickly-he was under 40. Real good shape and fit dude.

It sucks. It doesn't ask for names and it just takes you. Fitness isn't really a factor in much, specifically in cancer though. Hell, even heart health for a fitness trainer: https://www.cnn.com/2017/04/04/health/bob-harper-biggest-loser-heart-attack/index.html

My Dad had lung cancer and never smoked a day in his life. I could go on and on with my examples, but treatment or no treatment, it can kill so damn quick.

I think some people who are seriously, incurably ill have a sense when their lives are coming to an end and just decide to let nature take its course. That goes against the grain of every medical practitioner today and if he had been in an assisted living facility would probably have been hooked up to machines to keep his vitals functioning.

Don't you just hate when pesky facts destroy you're delusional view on a topic... Sucks, doesn't it?
26   WookieMan   2018 Aug 26, 8:11am

What fact was destroyed? I get it, you have "people" that are technically considered family. They have no interest in you though. Call them family all you want, but everyone here knows the FACTS. Right?
27   WookieMan   2018 Aug 26, 8:13am

FYI, I'm not touching a thing in moderation right now. Not sure who put it there. I'm sensing weakness though. Very much so.
28   WookieMan   2018 Aug 26, 8:17am

I have zero idea who marked these three comment personal. Technically they made the right call. Again, honesty. But they're in moderation. I DIDN'T delete shit.

Fire it up. My comments are personal. I didn't put them there and am not deleting them. @Patrick should be able to verify this.

MrMagic and Wookie. C’mon guys. You two have been going at each other in multiple threads. Can we lower the levels a bit in here?

Isn’t this the entire platform of the Democrat party for the past 22 months? #resist

Also keep it on topic Tim. This is borderline trolling and I’d hate to have to zap your contributions.

I'm game to stop. Ask the other guy. He's the problem and we all know it. But let's keep the toxic on the board. I'm an idiot, so are you, and so are the rest of the users here according to him. But hey, let's keep him around.

He's driving users off and anyone here can see it. If Pat's cool with that, then whatever, but I do appreciate the intelligent debates, conversation and even arguments here. He's going on ignore here shortly because there's not many (ready that many) comments that are intelligent. He does have some though. See, I'm being nice. For some reason he finds it necessary to bash ANYTHING that doesn't go his way or fits his narrative. Sad to be honest.

I've made some progress and hope to have a somewhat better system working soon, where nothing really gets deleted, only marked spam or personal etc, and a marker put in place of the comment.

McCain Kervorkianed himself by having Stormy Daniels twerk smother him in the nude while he was on a morphine drip.

He thought Stormy was the only good thing Trump ever did.
37   Booger   2018 Aug 26, 6:12pm

I hope that the governor doesn't appoint Cindy McCain. Who does this bitch think she is? She’s important because she opened her legs up to McCain?
38   RC2006   2018 Aug 26, 10:11pm

Anybody that would pick Palin as their VP is either throwing the election or retarded.

He also had no problem constantly pushing for us to attack Iran for no fucking reason.
39   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Aug 26, 10:29pm

The barf is that he stood up for the little people. Bullshit! S&L and his attacks on the POW-MIA families for starters.

I agree with that.

I disagreed with most of his policies and Senate votes, but I don't see anything to gain from beating a dead horse or the reputation of a dead Senator. I am also not going to deify him, but I will give him credit where it is due: in 2000, Republicans should have nominated him instead of George W. Bush. The election would then have been McCain vs Gore. One of those two would have got the August PDB that warned, "Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US." I think either of them would have handled it better than W, and might have prevented 9/11 and the whole GWOT that followed.

If McCain had got that PDB, he might have relied on an aide to read it, but the aide would note the warning about hijacking airliners and using them as missiles. McCain knew all too well the destructive potential of a fully fueled airliner. I can imagine him issuing a bulletin to all airlines and addressing directly all commercial pilots: "Before takeoff, bring whatever you need into the cockpit, and lock the doors for the duration of the flight. If you need food or water, secure them before takeoff. If nature calls mid-flight, use a bucket or a flight suit like I did in Viet Nam. Do not open the cockpit doors for any reason until after landing. Also, in case of attempted hijacking, DO NOT cooperate with hijackers." That would have changed airline policy and made the 9/11 attacks much more difficult, maybe impossible.

If Gore had got that PDB, he might have accomplished the same result, though he would have used administrative protocol rather than directly addressing pilots.

If 9/11 happened anyway, neither Gore nor McCain would have rushed to invade Iraq. The W administration diverted illegally resources from Afghanistan to Iraq, thus losing both Afghanistan and Iraq. Gore would probably not have invaded Iraq at all, and McCain would probably have waited until Afghanistan was at least somewhat under control and then asked the Congress before transferring resources to Iraq.

Also, if the Iraq invasion happened anyway, neither Gore nor McCain would have told Paul Bremer to "de-baathify" the government, including especially the military. Both Gore and McCain would have known the importance of keeping the Iraqi military under control. Even if Bremer had issued the order on his own, Gore would have listened to the generals and rescinded it, and McCain might have done the same if he had been commander in chief. (Instead, McCain deferred to W's envoy even though the decision was obviously disastrous.)

I admit that's speculation, but I do think McCain would have been a better nominee than W. Also, McCain opposed W's terrible tax shift, but then campaigned unfortunately supporting it in 2008.
