Florida State University says it will relocate a statue of Francis Eppes, a grandson of Thomas Jefferson, even though the idea was rejected in a 2016 student referendum.

FSU President John Thrasher announced Tuesday that the school will remove the statue of Francis Eppes from Westcott Plaza in accordance with the recommendation of a panel he appointed last fall.

Two lessons from this incident.

1.Democracy matters ONLY if people vote correctly (that is, how their Masters want). If not, vote will be promptly ignored.
2. Silent majority of students is reasonable in state schools - they voted 70/30 to leave statue of Eppes, who is founder of FSU, on campus. What we usually see in campus protests is a vocal, idiotic minority of gender- and race-studies majors and school administration which supports them. However, opinion of the silent majority is not known, unless a vote is carried out, which happens rarely.
