Starting this fall, all faculty applicants to UCLA must document their contributions to “equity, diversity and inclusion.” (Next year, existing UCLA faculty will also have to submit an “equity, diversity and inclusion statement” in order to be considered for promotion, following the lead of five other UC campuses.) The mandatory statements will be credited in the same manner as the rest of an applicant’s portfolio, according to UCLA’s equity, diversity and inclusion office.
A contemporary Einstein may not meet the suggested evaluation criteria. Would his “job talk” — a presentation of one’s scholarly accomplishments — reflect his contributions to equity, diversity and inclusion? Unlikely.

I don't care if a private university wants to dramatically lower the quality of its faculty by making virtue signaling and racism against Asians and whites its mission. Such a university is doomed.

But I do care that my tax money is being used to destroy UCLA this way.

What we really need are objective standards of quality in one's field, and to absolutely and completely ignore race in hiring and tenure decisions. That would be the opposite of racism.

This shit is insanity. By the time my oldest can go to college there will probably be an extra penalty for having blue eyes.

Consider a pro basketball team which gets taken over by racist "diversity and inclusion" Nazis. What's going to happen once they demand that black players, regardless of size and skill, step aside and make room for, say, short Asian and white players?

They will start losing badly to teams which choose players on size and skill.

Again, fine for a private team to commit suicide that way. Not fine when my tax dollars are paying for such idiocy, as in the case of a state university.

Why I won't contribute to my alma mater. Watching this shit in action when I was in school, and seeing it morph into the worst liberal joke I could have imagined, has been extremely painful.

I don’t get the level of stupidity that one has to drop to in order to implement such programs.

Why are we paying taxes to support open racial discrimination?

And here is why tuition is so expensive:

the diversity vice chancellor’s total pay, including benefits, has averaged $414,000, more than four times many faculty salaries

You know, withholding donations is a pretty good idea for fighting "diversity" racism against whites and Asians.

For one week when I was at the University of Michigan, I had a job calling alums and asking for money. Worst job ever. They literally gave me a script book and listened in at random to calls I was making. I was obligated to quickly look up the current objection to giving money in a flip book they provided. Two of the objections in the flip book were:

1. "I want my money to support minorities at UM." The answer we were required to read was something like "U of M gives X million dollars per year to black students..."
2. "I do not want my money going to support minorities." The answer we were required to read to that was something like "The vast majority of donations are used to fund building projects and endow professorships..."

Several times alums told me that they just didn't have any money to contribute right now, and I just let them off the hook and wished them a good day instead of following the flip book and telling them that "only $50" would be fine, and I got caught and fired when the woman in charge of the call center listened in to some of my calls and told me I didn't have what it takes to be a money-grubber.

The horrible woman who ran the program was named Diane Necci. I still remember her name because it was such an awful experience.

Most private schools accept lots of federal funds, so they should not have this crap as well.

There is surely a 50-100 PERSONS office of diversity and inclusion as well, so the cost probably is more than the whole academic department. Add "office for student success", "office of community outreach", "institute for public initiatives", athletics, and so on, and very soon third of school budget is wasted on garbage.

Interesting comment from a friend:

what bothers me about this thread is that NONE of you seem to get that the capitalists CAUSED this on purpose, because by forcing diversity and open borders and so on, and completely indoctrinating everyone at university, you permanently disorganize labor and prevent any possible opposition to a small ruling class of capitalists basically running the world

they controlled the state (in the big political science sense of "the state") and so it was easy to progressively change the rules until they had complete control, and then to accelerate the process . . . .

Any major rhat ends with “studies” is probably bogus.

Or has "intersectional", "interdisciplinary" and so on in its name.

In general, this means that all universities are violating Title VI of 1964:

No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.
