Racism or a lack there of is not so much about critical thinking skills.

Although it is partly. Everyone rationalizes their beliefs.

Excellent essay from current Time magazine.

Don’t Let the Loud Bigots Distract You. America’s Real Problem With Race Cuts Far Deeper

Excerpt:

The fact is that Americans have grown comfortable with racism resting just beneath the surface of our politics — to be activated whenever a politician or a community needed it, or some racist incident exhumed it only for us to bury it once again. What has resulted is an illusion that blinds us to what was actually happening right in front of our noses and in our heads — we believed that our country had become less racist, because we were not as brazen as we once were.

Trump has shattered that illusion. He rode race, the third rail of American politics, straight to the White House. He challenged Obama’s citizenship, called Mexicans rapists and criminals, proposed to ban all Muslims from entering the country, insisted on the need for “law and order,” argued that immigration was changing the “character” of the United States and openly courted white supremacists. He dog-whistled in a way that let no one feign deafness. Trump promised to dismantle Obamacare and provide a “beautiful” alternative, to make Mexico pay for “the wall” and to restore America’s manufacturing greatness — jobs and tax relief included. His pledges spoke directly to the forgotten American’s sense of victimhood: that he had been left behind during the Obama years and that his way of life was under threat.

Trump exists in a sweet spot between the soft bigotry of self-contradictory American liberals and the loud racism of those who shout “nigger” and demand that Latino people go back to Mexico, all stuck in an economic system that cannot reconcile the startling gap between the top 1% and those busting their behinds to make ends meet. Trump sits right there, amid the mess and false promises, with a smirk on his face.

liberals are just easily offended wimps these days. back in the days none of this shit was called racism, it was just daily trash talk. you over-coddled babies don't know what racism is. Times writer needs to go cry to his mama.

As if you even read it. Some Trump voters are triggered the moment they hear the word racism.

Trump has shattered that illusion.

Do share how you feel we are both equally as racist as the past AND how trump somehow brought out this hidden racism.

Assuming you wont speak for yourself this time either, just like every other time you post an anti-trump propaganda piece.

Obama was elected twice, but you claim "racism" is how Trump was elected instead of a white woman. Even the people who voted for Obama then and Trump later on are "racists" for rejecting Hillary?

The article is full of logical fallacies. It's almost as it gasp a man who is the head of an african american studies department sees everything through the eyes of racism, AND blames all racism on white people, AND seems to think we have a racism problem in the US while somehow ignoring the fact that the white western world is the least racist part of the world, AND seems to think that not getting his way in a POTUS election is evidence of racism, AND this is all somehow proven by a single video of a woman saying "build the wall".

TDS much guys? It would be hard to be more delusional than this author (well I guess you could share this propaganda article and thinking it's a fair indictment of the wrong thinkers, SMH marcus)

You need the racism narrative to continue so that you have something to feel victimized about, and feel special. Funny how Whites want to make race a non-issue, but Blacks want it to continue as an issue.

Gotta laugh at articles based on non facts.

How can you verify the claims the author makes?

Usually the first one to call racist is the one judging you by the color of your skin instead of the content of your character.

Maybe if blacks weren’t subjected to so much racism, they’d stop talking about it

Where is your evidence of "so much racism"?

The welfare state is keeping the black community down, but I'm assuming this isnt what you are talking about. By any metric blacks commit far more violence against other groups than vice versa, and are far more likely to be on government help.

Show us where the racism is again?

Just when I started to have hope he’d finally found a brain, too! I guess critical thinking is something you either have or you don’t.

And he wonders why I’ve named him the biggest racist on Patnet. He hates Asians and white people and Arabs. Even zzyyzz just despises one race and he might have reason living in Baltimore.

Don’t confuse one day of vacation with years of living there.

What would be a good reason for someone living in Baltimore to hate black people?

I spent the last weekend in Baltimore at an Expo, didn’t see any reason why I’d say that it was good to be racist

I don’t hate any race

As an American, i know who the enemy is. American history isn’t your strong suit, huh?

What is it about living there makes it ok to be racist; even though racism doesn’t exist?

Answer this: is is racist to acknowledge that blacks in baltimore are many, many, many times more likely to commit a violent crime than non-blacks? Is it racist to discuss this crime disparity so as to fix the problem?
17   Shaman   2018 Sep 20, 11:07am

Fuck, I hung out with a black lady who says she escaped Baltimore because it was too violent there. She went to Alaska and considered that a huge improvement. That place has cultural issues with its black community.

Maybe if Blacks (as a generalization) would get their lives together, stop committing crimes, and contribute more to society, people wouldn't judge them as a book by its color. I feel bad for those who do have their lives together to be judged by all the others, but that will never change until there's a holistic shift.
