Jesus... she's my age but looks 10-15 years older. Looks like decades of pills and wine to me. Her testimony was all over the place and unconvincing. Kavenaugh's was much more coherent and believable, although I think the hearing was about 8 hours longer than it needed to be. I snapped off the radio for a few minutes when the last Senator invoked God.

The amount of motivated reasoning expressed here never cease to amaze me.
Guys here can't bring themselves to feel a hint of empathy or even see that woman as a human being.
She MUST be lying. She MUST be crazy. There is simply no other possibility.

No one actually knows. But because the Democrats intentionally held onto this rather than insist on an investigation early in the process, her personal quirks come under scrutiny and reasonable observations about her character, medical history, and personality are magnified.

I don’t see how the people who instantly label her as credible are somehow doing something better.

When it comes down to it, a 35 year old, uncorraborated account, brought forward solely by those with political motivation, does not merit a view with an open mind. Or perhaps you can explain why it should and at the same time sound more intelligent and less hateful than Corey Booker and Kamala Harris.
5   MAGA   2018 Sep 28, 11:48am

Would her so called testimony hold up in court? Would it even be allowed after 36 years? I feel sorry for her husband.

Ok, that's a good point. Not exactly the same as "she needs a shrink", "looks 10-15 years older. Looks like decades of pills and wine to me".

You grossly misunderstand my position. I went into this willing to believe her. You see no empathy despite me leading with

I objectively considered the entirety of her claims, her presentation, her demeanor etc and shared my conclusion: unconvincing. Also threw in a few unflattering subjective observations.

I think the assumption I have no empathy or didn't try to hear her side started with my conclusion and worked its way backwards to try to fit the results to preconceived notions of how one must have arrived at my position.

No no no: It's not like you are expressing doubt: You are putting her done. You are shooting her in the face.
There is simply no reason for this outside motivated reasoning.

Pretty sure at least part of that overreaction is due to the insistence that victims must be believed.

If you truly feel that she’s lying for politics, then you’d have every right to view her with scorn. She’s given us no proof that she is not, leaving it up to every individual to make that assessment. Those who decide that she is NOT credible or convincing will have a decidedly negative view of her and her actions. By the way that’s 75% of the country right now.

Aphroman says
Will you excuse anyone’s actions so long as they believe they’re reacting to the idea that their “opponents” are “lying for politics”?

It’s clear that you will. You constantly defend ridiculous actions taken by people on the Left in pursuit of political aims.

I won’t. I simply stated that people are going to have feelings about her that match their beliefs about her credibility. The actions they choose to take in response to those feelings may be evaluated on their own merits or faults.
16   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Sep 28, 4:16pm

I think at some point she might have been drunk and had a MM+F - at a different time and place. After 30+ years of hamstering and being in a feminist environment, it turned into a rape. Kavanaugh was not involved but the TDS around him caused her to "remember" the perp as him and his friend.

How did she get home without a car? She's in suburban MD, not in a city. Why does her friend not remember even being at a party with Kavanaugh, much less what followed? What teenage girl doesn't tell her best friend things? Why the delay?

Memories are very, very malleable. It's a myth that people repress trauma completely, but it's a fact that memories get distorted and nobody is immune to this based on education level.

People are used to the idea of "proven beyond reasonable doubt" which is what has been drilled into them by civics lessons at school, instructions they receive when performing jury duty, books, movies, etc. Now suddenly they are asked to throw all that "noncense" out of the window and agree that a drastic action needs to be taken on a simple accusation. No wonder many a getting whiplash from such a sudden change of direction.

An accusation absent other factors doesn’t even meet the preponderance of evidence standard.

Again I am curious as to why she is given credit for even a shred of credibility.

Gotta hand it to her. Held one of the nation's premiere lawyers hostage, giving him a taste of his own medicine, and is going GoFundMe RichFuck Supernova prying free shit from the velcro paws of weeping, wailing, teeth gnashing libbies.

This. And it's obvious. Anyone listening to her would know that's what this is all about. The D's got a Ph.D. to do their dirty work and she'll walk with 6/7 figures plus. This might be one of the most open political stunts I've ever seen.

Yeah, Ph.D. in shrinkology which isn't much different than a chiropractor. Someone asked her a question and her douchy reply was, "The hypothalamus remembers ...", instead of simply, "I remember ..".

The hypothalamus doesn't remember shit. It's the size of an almond 'involved' in memory and many other things. She's a double front door fraud.

That's the amygdala, but the point stands. The hypothalamus is a sensory gate-keeper, not the storage apparatus itself. Ironically, its filtering function gives rise to phenomena like thematic apperception, wherein you see and remember what you expect to see, not always what was actually there in its fullness.

When appealing to an authority like one's own Ph.D, one should be sure that their entire statement is congruent with the field as understood by even first year students. These inconsistencies in her testimony and presentation are nontrivial.

You're correct in saying size of an almond; I was thinking of the nearby amygdala, which literally translates as almond because of its size and shape.

I heard the top of the hour news of the Kavanaugh hearing. They said it has led to an FBI investigation into his sexual assault of Ford. They also said that the FBI is NOT going to investigate the other sexual assaults Kavanaugh has been accused of.

Political Theater.

I watched the hours of testimony and both of the testifiers seemed quite creepy. Kavanaugh did that wierd thing with his tongue in his cheek and seemed a bit over emotional; judges should have thick skins, though I can only imagine how the hounding from the media can be really upsetting.

Ford's story is ridiculous. Three and a half decades ago she somehow arrived at a party distinctly remembers a couple drunk jocks rolling around on her tramautizing her for life. She does not remember who she went to the party with, where the party was, or how she got home. She has no friends that will back up her story.

Political theater.
30   Onvacation   2018 Sep 29, 5:03pm

It was amusing how Ford said, "I'm gonna need some caffeine". They brought her a big bottle of Coke and it was displayed in front of her for the rest of her testimoney. Coincidence, or is Coca Cola sponsoring her assaullt on the weak stomached beer lover?

I saw a lot of crooked arms in that room.

Agreed. I thought K could have been a bit more steadfast but we haven't been in that situation so tough to say. Fords whole story is a load of bull of a mentally ill person that is being used as a puppet by the left and some good go fund me money on the side. It's sad we have stooped down this low but (social) media is only fanning the flames of bullshit narcissist theater. It's what they thrive on and make money of, at the expense of society's cohesion. It's time to get the fuck out of (social) media.
