I say thank you Trump. More legislation like this to protect the environment is needed. I don't give a rat's ass who puts it on the books, because environmental protection will be the most important issue of our lives going forward.

True... You can look at google maps of Asian countries like Indonesia and see literal rivers of plastic flowing out into the ocean.

Yes, the US cleaning up the mess mostly made by China and other Asian polluters.

That's America! Cleaning up the rest of the worlds' mess. Just ask the Europeans how many times we've cleaned up theirs?

To be honest, most of the planets pollution in the last 100 years has been caused by us Americans. We consume massive quantities of the worlds resources. No other country can match our consumption and wasteful lifestyle.
We, along with the rest of the world must clean up our planet. The air, the land, and the ocean. Sadly, we are the only country on the planet that bailed out of the Paris climate agreement. Trump is to blame for his shortsightedness, putting oil and coal profits above the responsibility we have towards the well being of our planet.
Strategist.....Trump supporter and Capitalist Pig telling it the way it is.

I dunno. China has got to be pretty high on the list given their spectacular levels of pollution recently.

Recently, yes. Over the last hundred years, not even close. China is already the world's largest installer of solar power and other clean energy. Why aren't we even close to them?
Our family got our 5th electric car last week. The newly designed, and finally beautiful 2018 Nissan Leaf. The next one is the Tesla Model 3 that we have been waiting for for 31 months so far. I cannot afford the expensive versions they keep making.
I already got a sticker for the car that says "ExxonMobil can kiss my ass" :)

I'd like to answer this question Alex:

What is "information you won't find on CNN" because they are too busy selling left wing propaganda.

But China's pollution is/was largely the US/EU/LATAM importing clean air by exporting pollution to China for manufacturing.

You might wanna stock up on PCG and GNE stock then.

Nixon started the EPA.

Sadly, we are the only country on the planet that bailed out of the Paris climate agreement.

The USA bailing on those accords has no effect on anything. A law of our own that bans imported products from nations not using similar pollution laws as the US would actually do some good.

That would be a good point towards fair trade.
Ironically, China is leading the way towards renewable energy. Not because they care for the planet, but because of pollution that is restricting progress.

They want to build expensive infrastructure to export coal, a product with no future?
Stupid idea.

Just watch a few YouTube channels of people that are sailing around Asia/Indonesia as well. Some channels point it out and others you can just see the trash even though they try to avoid it.

And yes, removing trash from an island probably isn't a cheap endeavor, but some of these beautiful places are absolutely trashed. While we're not perfect, America generally does do a decent job with trash and keeping our natural treasures clean (for the most part).

Agreed. The environment is an extremely important economic resource that needs to be managed wisely.

America has done plenty to pollute the Earth for 200 years and we led the way in destroying the environment, so it is our moral responsibility and our economic interest to lead the way in fixing this problem. No excuses. We're Americans, not some failed commie cuck state. We don't make excuses. We lead. That's the American way.

We should use our economic and political power to ensure a prosperous future, and that includes wisely managing the environment. Long term productivity is contingent upon it.

China + India has eclipsed our total contribution. They did it at the tail end of that 100 years, but they did it.

Unsure if you mean China and India combined, or each individually. Individually, certainly not, and combined, I'm not even sure if that's true... It's probably pretty close.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/06/01/climate/us-biggest-carbon-polluter-in-history-will-it-walk-away-from-the-paris-climate-deal.html

China is clearly the biggest CO2 emitter currently, that much is certain.

Also because there's a fuckton of money to be made in renewables and alternative energy and they're going to steal our lunches if we don't move faster into that sector.

That has nothing to do with what they chugged out over the last 100 years. Nor is it meaningful in anyway as they keep building coal plants. India is doing the same.

China and India had much smaller populations 100 years ago, uneducated and living off the land. Virtually no industries, cars, or electricity. They could not have contributed much to pollution back then.

So what ? Virtue signaling to make you feel good does not override data.

Jaguar announced all their cars will be 100% electric by 2025.
Toyota announced 10 models will be totally electric in the early 2020's
VW announced similar plans as Toyota.
Most countries have/are banning the sale of fossil fuel cars around 2030
Since 2011 we have only purchased hybrids, plug in hybrids, and 100% electric cars only. We are now ready to only buy 100% electric cars.
The 2018 Leaf that we leased:
Total lease payments including down and drive off for 3 years.......$12,200
Rebate check from State.................................................................$2,500
Annual rebate from San Diego electric over 3 years $500/year
.......$1,500
Free electricity from Nissan for 2 years
Free electricity from Nissan dealers for life
Dirt cheap electricity if charged at home overnight
Use of car pool lanes.
Priority parking in many spots.
No repair costs as the lease is only 3 years.
Lot more powerful than gas cars.
No noise from engine.
