I'm constantly amazed at how little my peers (who are Democrats) know about the candidates they voted for. For instance, this morning I was speaking with a woman who voted for Stacy Abrams. I asked her why she voted for her, and her response was something along the lines of "she wants to do the best for the community" and "she was raised in a good home" and "she went to three colleges."

I asked her if she agreed with her stance on gun control, immigration, healthcare she knew nothing. When I told her why I disagreed with her stances on these topics, she shutdown and didn't want to talk anymore. She got pissed off at me for trying to have a rational conversation that she was actively engaged in.

It seems like every-time you try to talk to a Dem about the issues, they won't talk about the issues.

This is the same shit I saw back in 2016 when it came to the issues with this coworker (and several others). I'm constantly amazed at how well the Dems do, with how little they have to run on.

I watched Stacey Abrams interview with Chris Cuckmo and even Cuckmo was flabbergasted by her platform of gun confiscation in red Georgia. Also her pro Caravan comments probably sealed the deal.

Luckily this fat queen latifah KFC fan got sent to the unemployment line to collect benefits just like her supporters.

Good riddance.

How the fuck did she manage to get something like 48% of the vote?
3   joshuatrio   2018 Nov 7, 6:07am

Sad part is that we are 20,000 votes away from a runoff.

78,000 ballots left to count.

I read Abrams voting record and it's damn scary.

If you have political discussions with lots of folks, you will find that few know much about issues. The best way to describe most people , both D and R, is "fanboy." That is, people choose a political party like they choose a favorite sports team, and just want their team to win. Partisans do not want to hear their Party supports issues they disagree with any more than the Dallas fan (there is one somewhere, I think) wants to hear his team only won because the ref blew a call.

Which is sad, when all I did, was ask why she supported Abrams, and what particular issues mattered to her (and why)...

Notice all of the Commies that took their race to the top of the Commie Socialist Hill.
They All died on that Mother Fucker.
The only ones that won, were the ones that were running pretty much unopposed.
All of those that had the least amount of a challenger, beat the Commies, regardless how many AListers stumped for them and regardless how many Soros Millions was thrown on those races.

Think I'm kidding about dying on that Hill. Let Beto, Gillium, and Abrams be solid proof of what I'm talking about.

They would have won had they ran a sensible Democrat Left campaign and not a Hard Left Socialist Threat.
Yes they were a Threat to their voters, they threatened everyone. They are tone deaf fucks, threat and bully that's all they can offer. Threats have replaced campaign promises.
And they all died on that Lonely Hill. Say a prayer for the Commies willya?

What was the turnout of black voters in Georgia?

Blacks vote in lock step and shun and humiliate those that don’t tow the line.
13   Goran_K   2018 Nov 7, 8:19am

Beto and Gillium came too close for comfort for me. Both of those guys could have served in the USSR and fit like a glove.
14   Hircus   2018 Nov 7, 11:00am

Josh,

I think many people know that they can't personally go toe to toe in a political discussion/debate with someone whose even slightly more knowledgeable than them. But, that doesn't make them wrong. I think many people let the experts debate, and they watch the experts debate, and then choose a side. I'm not saying its ideal, but it is what it is, as people have varying interest and time commitments to politics.

I know there's many people who could debate with me, and they could take ANY stance/side of a topic, and then proceed to destroy me and make me look foolish in a discussion. But, that doesn't make their stance correct, not would it be likely to change my mind, as politics are so complicated and subjective such that a few quick logical arguments don't truly explore and decide things.

I think discussion is good, but you're probably viewed as being confrontational, or out to prove them wrong. Nobody likes when people come up to them and more or less say "I'm right and you're wrong", challenging their decisions & opinions, even if the persuasion is logical. It's a great way to upset people.

Agree. I think this goes for pretty much anyone though.

Except I wasn't being confrontational. I didn't even take sides. I told her I disliked both candidates (when the election headlines came across our television screen at work) and gave a 2 second summary of why I disliked BOTH of them.

She said she liked Abrams.

All I did was ask why she liked Abrams. Asking someone why they support a candidate should not be offensive, although the left often interprets it that way.

A simple answer of "I don't know where they stand, but I like the candidate because of this" would suffice. But to get all pissed off about it is stupid.

If you're voting for someone, at least know a little bit of what they stand for - OR - why you are voting against the other party.

Several months ago, she said that Trump is a racist. I asked her why she thought that. Same thing. No proof, just verbal sewage and bits of MSM talking points and rambles about being mean and immigration.

Because of my experience with her and several other co-workers, I have come to the conclusion that the left is unable to think for themselves and simple regurgitates news headlines. The #NPC movement describes the large majority of leftists I've run into perfectly.

Yes they did. Thank you for proving that Republicans know that which they are voting about, as opposed to Dems who just vote for virtue signalling rights in order to 'fit in'.

LOL, I think immigration, trade deals and Obamacare were the major ones for most Americans.

We'll see how immigration works out, but he has a pretty solid list of accomplishments already.

You're dealing with an NPC.

"What do you think of Abrams?"
"I took an arrow in the knee."
"Why is Trump a racist?"
"I hear there are Jabberwockies in the Forest of Doom, Champion. Maybe you should fast travel there?"

I'd actually be on board with this. But could be difficult for a few candidate, for example IL-D8 winner Raja Krishnamoorthi. Tallying votes also would be tough as even most Americans probably couldn't even write in Paul Ryan correctly if they had to. If they spell it wrong does it still count?

But if you can come in with a cheat sheet, then that might be better. But then the parties would just mail out their own cheat sheets for people to bring to the polls and they'd vote straight party lines anyway.
22   Goran_K   2018 Nov 7, 1:59pm

Funny. I just want people to prove they are actually citizens and carry an ID to vote. But somehow that’s racist and a spelling test is much more feasible somehow.

I'm cool with ID's all day. I literally have 4 form of government approved ID to identify myself. Not hard to get.

I like the write in idea because you have to actually know who the fuck you're voting for. I'd guess at least 6 out of 10 times it's a straight party line vote and the people don't really even know what they're voting for.

Not everyone of course, but I'm guessing most don't even know the positions of their state representative. Who will likely have more impact on them then versus the federal government. I know my state reps and governor are probably going to raise my state income taxes to the tune of 50-75% higher after a recent 30% increase. I have a whole hell of a lot more influence over those types of elections versus the federal level. Problem here in IL is the ballots and straight affiliation voting for one party or the other. With zero knowledge of the actual candidates.

It's like going to a restaurant and you can choose a hamburger or a cheeseburger. There are other ingredients on the burger, but the menu is only telling you if it has cheese or not. The other ingredients are policy stances and they're not listed on the menu. That's how our current ballots function.

You did. But let me summarize:
- rich and successful
- became president (highest office)
- great kids
- beautiful wife
- fucked a porn star (if true = awesome)
- tough dude

Trump for the longest time was the popular culture icon of wealth and what people strive to be (I still do honestly).

He only became a "racist" when he decided to not run as a Democrat, and you know how Democrats treat people who decide to leave the plantation.

Yeah I mentioned this many times a while ago. He was the darling of mainstream TV and actually helped blacks and Jews already way back then. Never a racist, just money motivated which was - and maybe still is - the essence of the US. A simple party switch and targeting the various threats to the success of capitalism looming within the left and suddenly he's literally hitler. Can't make this shit up.
28   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Nov 8, 3:11pm

Yep, Trump only became a racist, sexist Nazi when he descended the stairwell a few summers ago.

How is that Summer person doing in California, btw?
