Scott calls for investigation into vote counting in Broward and Palm Beach counties; Trump weighs in

Gov. Rick Scott is asking the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to investigate vote counting in South Florida’s Democratic stronghold counties, questioning whether “rampant fraud” is happening as his race for U.S. Senate appears headed for a hand recount.

Scott held a 15,079 vote advantage over incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson as of Thursday night. He has filed a lawsuit against Brenda Snipes, Broward County’s supervisor of elections, accusing her office of not complying with the state’s public records laws.

Scott questioned how “votes are coming out of nowhere” in Democratic-leaning Broward and Palm Beach counties during a Thursday night news conference at the governor’s mansion. He blasted Palm Beach elections chief Susan Bucher and Snipes for what he called “rank incompetence.”

“The people of Florida deserve fairness and transparency, and the supervisors are failing to give it to us,’’ Scott said. “Every Floridian should be concerned that there may be rampant fraud happening in Palm Beach and Broward counties.’’

Scott followed up his fiery press conference with a nationally televised interview with Fox News personality Sean Hannity. President Donald Trump then weighed in on Twitter.

“Law Enforcement is looking into another big corruption scandal having to do with Election Fraud in #Broward and Palm Beach,” Trump wrote. “Florida voted for Rick Scott!”

Snipes declined to comment on the lawsuit Thursday night but said the counting is virtually done. Told the FDLE could be investigating, Snipes said, “He owns the FDLE.”

In a statement, Dan McLaughlin, a Nelson spokesman, dismissed Scott’s claims.

“The goal here is to see that all the votes in Florida are counted and counted accurately,” he said. “Rick Scott’s action appears to be politically motivated and borne out of desperation.”

The suit, filed in Broward County Circuit Court, accuses Snipes of not providing full voter and ballot information in compliance with Florida’s public records law. Scott did not file the suit in his capacity as governor. Rick Scott for Senate and the National Republican Senatorial Committee are listed as plaintiffs in the suit, which requests an emergency hearing.

Nelson has hired prominent Marc Elias to represent him in the recount effort. He said in a conference call with reporters earlier in the day he believes Nelson will emerge victorious when all the votes are counted.

Scott said he is considering “every single legal option available.”

“I will not sit idly by while unethical liberals try to steal this election from the people of Florida,” Scott said.

During the Election I got text messages from several Dem and Rep opperatives telling me to vote early.
I told them all
"there's no way in hell I would give Brenda Snipes 10 whole days to find my ballot and shit can it. "
Or how many days there was before the election.

I just texted everyone of them back especially the Democrats(because they are most fragile and need to make a Liberal Cry right now)

"I told you Brenda Snipe was a big no good smelly fetid CUNT!"
