All religions have senseless rituals. Rituals are interesting, but still senseless. They were started by people in the old days with silly beliefs. Rituals just make people feel good.
No religion can be worse than Islam when it comes to any kind of comparison. None.

Religious rituals have a sense to them, but it's almost never the overtly stated sense.

A great deal of ritual is simply inculcating peculiar customs in order to readily distinguish "our own" people from outsiders, and to get people used to obeying authority even when it's not clear why they are being asked to do something.

In the end though, belonging to one religion or another is pretty universal for humanity so it was probably selected for evolutionarily. Groups with a religion seem likely to defeat groups without them.

The IRA was the military wing of Sinn Fein. It doesn't really exist anymore except for a few dead-enders who are really dealing drugs in poor neighborhoods using the Republicanism as cover.

The Troubles-era IRA was never very much Catholic rather than Nationalist/Revanchist. Nor, in fairness, was it Hard Left as Hard Left groups like INRA split off from it. I think the Original IRA had a Marxist-Leninist Splinter Group as well.

Christians don't kill like they used to, but Muslims still do. Hinduism may be more peaceful than Muslims and Christians historically, but they are not as peaceful as the Buddhists, Zorastrians, and Bahais. Hindus discriminate the most.
