When the Pilgrims made the journey to the new world, their leader, William Bradford set up an agreement, a contract,” for all the Pilgrims to agree to and sign, “that established just and equal laws for all [forty Pilgrims] of the new community…” It didn’t matter what their religious beliefs were. None of that mattered. They just set up a contractual agreement that dictated behavior and a number of other things. Now, where did the ideas…? This is the Mayflower Compact, by the way, is what it was called.

“Thanksgiving, in truth, my friends, is “a devout expression of gratitude” to God for their survival, which depending on a whole lot of things after they arrived — a whole lot of things besides assistance by the Indians.

“The original contract … called for everything they produced to go into a common store,” a common account, “and each member of the community was entitled to one common share.” In other words, everybody got the same as everyone else. That’s the way it was set up. It was fairness, and it was equality. “All of the land they cleared and the houses they built belong to the community,” not to the people personally. “They were going to distribute it equally. All of the land they cleared… Nobody owned anything.

“They just had a share in it. It was a commune,” pure and simple. “It was the forerunner to the communes we saw in the ’60s and ’70s out in California — and it was complete with organic vegetables, by the way. Bradford, who had become the new governor of the colony, recognized that this” wasn’t working. This was collectivism. Nobody had any more than anybody else, nobody had any less, but that did not lead to prosperity. It never does.

When everybody was entitled to the same, you have slackers. Slackers didn’t do their share, they didn’t contribute their share, but they got the same amount as everybody else. It led to recriminations and jealousies and anger. Bradford had to change it, and he did.

“The Pilgrims found that people could not be expected to do their best work without incentive. So what did [they] try next? They unharnessed the power of good old free enterprise by invoking the … principle of private property. Every family was assigned its own plot of land to work and permitted to market” whatever they produced, able to sell — for whatever price they could get — their crops and their products."

And the result was capitalism, the force that made America great!

Always good to hear from Rush "I'll say anything for a few vicodin" Limbaugh.

It's quite amazing that cultists in the 17th century had more common sense and were able to save themselves by ditching communism and embracing capitalistic free market . . . whereas Jonestown 250+ years later ended in mass suicide instead of pulling off another Thanksgiving "miracle" ("miracle" in the same sense as the post-WWII West German "economic miracle" under Ludwig Erhard)

Donald Trump’s remaining base spirals even further out of control

Recently on Fox News, Chris Wallace interviewed far-right talk show host Rush Limbaugh to discuss the influence Limbaugh has over Donald Trump. While Limbaugh denied that he has the ability to affect policy, Wallace commented on Trump’s own statements where he said, “Rush Limbaugh, I think he’s a great guy … He’s got one of the biggest audiences in the history of the world, I mean this guy is unbelievable.”

As if trying to confirm that he considers Limbaugh a top advisor, Trump tweeted Limbaugh verbatim a few hours later, “These guys, the investigators, ought to be in jail. What they have done, working with the Obama intelligence agencies, is simply unprecedented. This is one of the greatest political hoaxes ever perpetrated on the people of this Country, and Mueller is a coverup.”

During the interview, Wallace pushed Limbaugh on whether his recent statements promoting Trump’s power grab were indeed hypocritical, given his past statements criticizing President Obama. “I want to ask you about the game you say we play in Washington,” Wallace said. “Because the fact is when President Obama took executive actions, you were outraged. And as you would expect, I’ve got a couple of examples.”

Wallace went on to point out that Limbaugh claimed Obama flushed the Constitution “down the toilet” when he created protections for DACA children. Instead of accepting the criticism and admitting the hypocrisy, Limbaugh doubled down on his inherent racism by saying what Trump is doing is acceptable stating You may look at it that way. I don’t. I look at it, right and wrong. And what Obama was doing was furthering this existing problem and politicizing this using whatever executive powers he wanted to use.”

It is beyond clear that people like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and others of that ilk will continue to spew racist and hateful rhetoric in an attempt to convince Donald Trump’s dwindling base that any hateful and illegal actions are somehow justified if it prevents people of color from gaining any human rights. This despicable, yet unsurprising, narrative will only continue and get worse as long as hateful people like Trump are in power. This is just another reason why the resistance to such hate is so necessary.

Indians should have whacked the illegal pilgrim immigrants, thus ensuring that whites do not take over N. America.
