Of course, the only places they can cut are . . .Education, Police and Fire.

Whether you’re a Democrat, a Republican or Independent, this list has to shock you.

Over the years, our politicians have created this enormous pork barrel of agencies that employ about as many people as the entire State of Alaska .

All of these people get salaries, medical coverage and pensions at taxpayers expense.

(The above is from a chain mail forwarded by a friend.)

We estimate that California state and local governments owe $1.3 trillion as of June 30, 2015. Our analysis is based on a review of federal, state and local financial disclosures. The total includes bonds, loans and other debt instruments as well as unfunded pension and other post-employment benefits promised to public sector employees. Our estimate of California government debt represents about 52% of California’s Gross State Product of $2.48 trillion. When added to the state’s share of the national debt, we find that California taxpayers are shouldering debt burdens on a par with residents of peripheral Eurozone states.

Not included are billions of dollars in deferred maintenance and upgrades to California’s infrastructure.

I was visiting CA recently and stayed in Sonoma coast for a visit. It was winter so slow-but I love winter in the coast-clear when not raining and no fog. I was chatting with the hotel owner. He was telling me about another hotel owner who had to sell his hotel during the downturn, had given hundreds of peoples jobs over few decades in the area. Now he has serious medical bills and so has a reverse mortgage on his property.

Nearby is a retired firefighter from San Francisco-who gets 14k a month-a month- in pension with full health benefits. That si what is wrong with democrats -these are not public servants-but public masters. We the people exists solely to give them our tax money so they never have to face any difficulty in life.

Ultimately it is the voters-in IL they gave supermajority to a party that ran on tax increases. So there. When the state fails, these dumb people migrate and take their voting patterns with them-wrecking havoc in other areas.

This is the list of state agencies in Mississippi. It’s not much different than California

And California has the highest paid and highest pensioned police and fire fighters in the world.

Not all Fire-fighters get that much. I was talking to a guy who's a firefighter up north, and he was trying to sell my on switching careers. Sounds like $60k is what he makes. I'm guessing the high pay is coming from benefits, not base pay?

Why California is Broke?

We were in the top 10 economies in the world, not sure if we still are. The public sector has been cannibalizing it's revenue stream for years though. Eventually the behemoth will collapse in on itself.

We'll see what happens. They'll either strangle the public with taxes, or will run out of money and have to face cutbacks. Democrats generally support unions, so I'm not optimistic about it as a taxpayer.

Here's an official link for CA government agencies.

By contrast here's Alabama, which I understand is considered a Republican oriented state.

https://inform.alabama.gov/agencysearch.aspx

It doesn't look that much different.

California rose to the 5th largest economy on the planet this year. If the socialists have their way, California would drop to the 50th place.

I read somewhere recently that in 1965 the public sector was something like 5%, today it's 14%--actually seems larger than that since it insinuates itself into every facet of life.

GOVT salary is public data. This includes university employees.

Here's some firefighter salaries (warning, may make you feel sick):
https://transparentcalifornia.com/salaries/search/?q=firefighter

My experience is that overtime + benefits seems to account for a lot of the cost of municipal employees like cops and firefighters. btw, if you wonder why we allow so much overtime, instead of just hiring more employees, I've heard it's because of the benefits packages and other "laws" and crap. Hiring on a new employee is a sudden step up in cost due to hiring & training costs, and the mandatory benefits that come with it. Often, at least up to a point, it's cheaper to just pay overtime. But you'll see that many employees take advantage of the allowed overtime policies and really cash in fat.

Looking up salaries of those in your own city is fun.

Lot of those crazy salaries are employees near retirement padding for for six figure pensions.

The Housing Trap
You're being set up to spend your life paying off a debt you don't need to take on, for a house that costs far more than it should. The conspirators are all around you, smiling to lure you in, carefully choosing their words and watching your reactions as they push your buttons, anxiously waiting for the moment when you sign the papers that will trap you and guarantee their payoff. Don't be just another victim of the housing market. Use this book to defend your freedom and defeat their schemes. You can win the game, but first you have to learn how to play it.
