Really, theatlantic? What's next, Hillary's opinion of Trump?

I'm sure we all could agree the Atlantic needs me writing and reporting for them.

It's not 'corrupted', it's just 'pro-business' (anti-human), with businesses 'lobbying' (paying) for 'access', and massive 'free speech' propaganda.

The amusing thing is some people are worried about the "alignment problem" in general AI.

How did the Republican Party become so corrupt

They emulated the Democrats but stopped short of taking away all common sense, moral decency, reason, patriotism, and social/family values.
5   Shaman   2018 Dec 14, 2:54pm

Same way the Democrats got so corrupt: they sold out to big money.

Power corrupts all.

Woah, do you really think Republicans are more "pro-government" than Democrats?

And it definitely seems to be the Democrats who are opposed to basic civil liberties like freedom of speech.

Democrats, pre 20016: Big Business has too much influence, especially the Media which must be broken up in order to protect Free Speech and Diversity.
Democrats, post 2016: Big Businesses have unlimited power of speech and must never be broken up or regulated, so long as they censor "Hate Speech" which is anything not 100% on board with the SJW Diversity and INclusion program.

Niall Ferguson had a good talk where he argued that the closest historic equivalent to the creation of the Internet was the invention of the printing press.
At the time too, many people used that invention to start propagating new ideas, some just preposterous, some pamphlets, some religious, destabilizing the powers in place - who didn't see it coming.
They weren't calling it "fake news" and "hate speech", but rather "heresy" and "blasphemy".
At the time people quickly crossed from exchanging these accusations, and proceeded to kill each other.
Followed 130 yrs of religious wars across Europe.
The only difference is it's happening about 10 times faster with the Internet.

So the hope is we will get only 13 yrs of civil war.

And the destruction of English language after all the presses in England were destroyed.

The French speakers in Calais spelled it like French, bureau.
The Dutch speakers in Holland spelled it like Dutch, borough.

Because abroad was the only place you could get shit in English printed.

With as many double conssonnantts and voweles necessary since they got paid by the line.

It'll be 13 days, maybe 13 hours. The difference in gun ownership and experience is overwhelming.

When you stop regulating capitalism you get fascism on a fairly rapid timetable.

No. You get naked capitalism which is amoral but also tends to cater to consumers. You only get fascism under the same conditions where you also could get communism. When an authoritarian regime arises and increases its own authority until it eclipses all human rights... that’s authoritarianism. Fascism and Communism are just excuses to get to the same exact place where a small coalition of rulers make and enforce all the rules and quash any resistance with maximum force.

Trump has moved the government significantly away from authoritarian rule, working hard to topple authoritarian media cabals, declawing corrupt justice officials, deregulation of the over regulated economy, and resisting the lure to increase Presidential powers even in the face of ridiculous levels of opposition to his very existence.

Corporations with armies running the government with an authoritarian front man

The US likes a front man that gives the people an illusion of choice and a voice in decisions.
