On Dec 11, debate erupted in the Oval Office over funding a southern border wall, between President Donald Trump and possible future House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer.

Pelosi was frustrated at the tone of the debate in front of the media.

“I don’t think you should have a debate in front of the press,” Pelosi said.

Schumer said, “Lets debate in private.”

All parties agreed, the U.S. needed border security.  How that is to be defined is up for debate, but at least they could agree on that.

Schumer: “The experts say you can do border security without a wall, which is wasteful and doesn’t solve the problem.”

Pelosi: “We came in here in good faith and we’re entering this kind of discussion in the public view.”

And Trump laid down his trump card, (no pun intended) and said, “It’s called transparency.”

After the Oval Office meeting Schumer and Pelosi spoke to the press outside the White House.
I was stunned to hear Pelosi actually say these words, “Congress of transparency,” yes, she used those words after a meeting with Trump in which she called for less transparency.

She said a “Congress of transparency will be about reaching out and extending a hand of friendship to work in a bipartisan way to find common ground.”

They are not planning on giving in to the president’s demands for a wall, while claiming they are somehow for “border security,” and while the President takes the blame for a government shut down, all the Democrats have to do to avoid it is give Trump the money for a border wall, which is why people voted for him.

So Trump may take the blame for this, but his constituents blame the Democrats for not funding the wall.

“A shut down hurts too many innocent people,” Schumer said.
