Do we need more cops in SF?
Police officers per 10k citizens:
San Francisco = 26.4
Chicago = 43.9
New York = 42.3
Washington = 56.9
Atlanta = 38.3
Boston = 32.2
...
Los Angeles = 24.6
Draw your own conclusions.
My conclusion: Liberals suck at controlling crime.

Hard to compare since all of those cities, and all major U.S. cities for that matter are dominated by "liberals." What's your example of a large American city that's run by conservatives, that does so much better ?
Interesting that LA and SF are the lowest, and arguably among the most liberal.
Interesting that LA and SF are the lowest, and arguably among the most liberal. Wow, DC is more than double LA or SF.
And more controversially:
Definitely more police presence needed in SF:

Police officers are expensive. Before we dig ourselves an even deeper safety retirement hole we should really ask some important questions.
In more than twenty years I commuted on BART, I never once saw a BART cop in a BART station or on a BART train. Why should SFPD cops be patrolling BART station? Instead of hiring more SFPD cops, why don’t we insist that BART cops actually be cops and do the job they are being so well to do and allow SFPD cops to patrol SOMA and the tenderloin.
Also why aren’t more SFPD cops on the street doing police work instead of doing office work that doesn’t need to be done by sworn police officers. This is a huge problem in police departments in California.
