Aaaand this is why I don't take BART or visit Oakland anymore if I can avoid it. This happened in broad daylight, smack in the middle of Friday morning commute time.

Last time I went to Jack London Square to meet a friend for lunch, we walked around for a while in broad daylight. Guards everywhere, but you could still see the mobile bandits on bicycles probing along the edges of the area for soft spots to see if they could fly in to manage a snatch 'n grab. It was like a Serengeti watering hole. Gettin' a little to Rio Di Janeiro over there.
