Despite a score of only 1270. The Bottom 25% of Harvard Freshmen scored 1450 on their SAT.

This will be interesting vis-a-vis Harvard's Anti-Asian Discrimination Case.

left wing institutions will pull themselves down sooner or later like this.

I know a few Harvard graduates, right here in fucking Reseda, not smart people at all, they went there on a "minority" grant of some sort, came out ultra liberal, now live in Reseda with their 60k salary whining about unfairness in the world. You'd think by just waving "Harvard" they'd be able to get more money than an average high school graduate. Nah, apparently some people can't even figure basics in life without having someone hold their hand for them.

I had a girlfriend who went to Harvard. She got in as a "legacy" (both her parents graduated from there).

When we were dating, I had just graduated from U. Michigan and she was still in college, so I moved out to Cambridge and lived in Adams House with her for a semester. It was against the rules of course, so I had to pretend like I belonged there. I like to say I went to Harvard. It was super-interesting, sociologically speaking. A lot of the kids were rich, but not all of them.

She's wacko liberal now of course.

What did they get their degrees in? Liberal Arts or something simililiarly useless?

First has some sort of English or literature degree. Second one don't know.

Harvard is a great school! So is Pasadena City college. My wife's old roommate went to the latter and was a Rhodes Scholar.

A good student will rise to the top, regardless of the school they attend, and a degree will only take you so far. Carrying skills into the real world is the real trick.

If that's the case, why go to Harvard? Sounds like a YYUUGGGGEEE waste of money.

...."The total 2018-2019 cost of attending Harvard College without financial aid is $46,340 for tuition and $67,580 for tuition, room, board, and fees combined."

Community college and state school isn't enough?

Sometimes it is. See Fortwayne's neighbors Reseda, exhibit A.

For others, the name obviously helps. An undergrad degree from Harvard will be able to coast into a decent graduate or professional program whereas a BS or BA from a lower ranked school will have more to prove to the admissions office. Or get some cushy wall street gig with connections from a helpful alum.

That's not to say ivy grads aren't smart. Lots of them are, lots of them are obviously very smart. But for the ones who aren't up to scratch and got in because of daddy's sizeable donation, that name will obviously help.

Recall that they inflated the SAT and a score of 1270 today is actually much lower than 1270 in 1972 for example.

The nickname for Florida among some people who move down is "Flori-Duh" . So, if you have a sheepskin from a fancy college you will stand out.

It's a brand, that's all.

He seems to be on the same trajectory as many other past politicians he is just going the media whore route a favorite of the left, were as somebody like Bush Jr. had rich family. Both are lying dumb asses like most politicians.

I said this crap ... years ago on this forum. I'd taken courses at Harvard College, as a special student, and gotten straight A's ... BFD!

I have no problems, beating assholes like Hoggs.

And then Al Gore Jr, who'd attended Harvard College, flunked out of Vanderbilt Law school with straight F's on his first year finals. The dean tried to negotiate with Al Gore Sr, the Senator of TN, that if Junior did a term paper, the school could pass him despite his academic shortcomings. Junior, being the lazy shit that he was, didn't even bother doing that.

FYI, none of my friends had flunked out of law school. At most, a few left because they were no longer interested in the field of study.

So there you have it, the great Harvard undergrad, being little more than a finishing house for those who don't even need to attend college, to later become a Senator or a Vice President.

They admitted Hogg because they needed a white guy who made the minority admissions look good.

Why would an Ivy Leaguer date a "loser" from U Michigan?

You sure she didn't say Road Scholar?

All you non Harvard peons are just jealous.

Didn't they reform the SAT twice? Once in the late 90s/early 2000s, then just recently again?
