Sweden is too domesticated and its people are too tolerant. The universal rule of human behavior is this: the most intolerant person or culture wins.
Here’s a real world example: ever been with a group and you’re deciding on someplace for dinner? Options and restaurants are offered, and there’s usually one person in the group who turns them all down for various reasons involving how she’s feeling, something about gluten, can’t stand fish, not locally sourced, not trendy enough, or kosher. You all argue about it a while, with most arguments presented to the intolerant diner as justifications for your favorite eatery. She rejects them and offers a single alternative. Eventually everyone gives up and goes to the Mediterranean joint she likes. Intolerance wins!
