With all the opinions around here, it would be interesting to hear what part of the country all of you live. I’ll go first.

Mid-Peninsula Silicon Valley (Belmont area), I commute to San Jose for work.

I imagine most of you are probably around this area?

Presently South Florida ; N. California Santa Cruz since 1982. Will return to CA in a couple of months. Born and raised in the Northeast USA.

The people in S. Florida for half of the year are from the Northeast, which means they don't do much outdoors, and are found drinking and eating on perfect beach days in "sports grills" and etc. Smokers also abound in addition to old drunks. Some episodes of Seinfeld were unfortunately accurate about S. Florida.

Pros: Everything is cheaper in Florida than California, the service people are not all Mexican, the customer is treated very nicely, being a white male is not considered a crime, you may carry a gun with a permit, or have one in your car without a permit, no income tax, lots of inexpensive great places to eat out, females are friendly and generally not overweight. There is a lot of money which is almost mind boggling. Medical/dental services are all over and excellent.

Cons: Florida has no scenery except at the beach, but boy is there scenery sometimes. The weather is opposite of N. California; Florida is hot in the summer and warm all year; Santa Cruz is warm in the summer and cool all year.

Today Jan 5 afternoon Temp will be 75F and clear.

South Bay suburb of Los Angeles.

Having grown up and lived in suburbs of Los Angeles until my 20’s, and then 13 years in City of Los Angeles, if find the many leftists assertions that conservatives are low IQ to be incredibly laughable. I have never lived with less intelligent people than when I lived in City of LA(my voting precinct went 98% Obama in 2012). Or maybe these people making these assertions never visit the ghetto. Whatever it is, there’s a lot of really low iQ Democrats.

South Florida is great if you got a Gated Community go hide yourself away from the Shit, Filth and Assholes that permeate every corner.

South Florida used to be great with something to do at every turn. Then the 2000's hit, and South Florida was the first part of the Country that decided New Developments were more important than the attractions, Restaurant Institutions, and public outdoor spaces. There is hardly a Seasonal crowd in South Florida anymore. At least not past Palm Beaches. Sure there's the whole hipster South Beach vibe. But that's people just passing through for a week end. In the 80's when I first moved down here. 60% of the Condo and about 30% of the SFH, Residences were snowbirds that lived here for about 4 months out of the year.
We had the best food in the country, the best happening bars, and the best boat culture.

South Florida had a Culture. And same shitbirds that shit all over San Francisco, shit on South Florida. They robbed South Florid of our culture, bought it up, bull dozed it over. Built cheesy new places, sold them to Argentinians, and Colombians. Who then out of no where started talking Shit about how Latino, the People, their Music, Food and Culture has been South Florida for Centuries. Just invented a whole new reality and out right Fucking LIE.

When I moved here in 1985, you literally had to drive 20 miles away to Hialeah to hear anyone even Speak Spanish, let alone find Latino food or Music.

Fucking French Canadians have a bigger right to Cultural Ownership than any Latino does. Jews have a bigger claim to it, it should be called Little Israel.

South Florida is a cheesy Joke compared to what it once was.

But man oh man can we build the shit out of Shopping Centers with a Panera Bakery and a Whole Foods store, to anchor a couple gated communities.

Tenpoundbass is saying the same thing I have heard from my neighbor.

She grew up in Florida, and they worked their way north because it became a crowded mess. She remembered when Fort Lauderdale was pretty nice.

I rarely venture south of Northlake Boulevard in N. Palm Beach.

A lot of what I see in Florida reminds me of San Jose or Los Angeles, not in a good way.

Northern Florida my man. I like Melbourne.

But yeah, I've seen this happen.

Biggest example: Hollywood beach. Even 10-15 years ago it had something of a kind of chill, eccentric, boat culture vibe.

Now it's Ratchet Ghetto to the Max with tattoo'd ass twerking and little kids running around at 1AM on a Tuesday night.
29   lostand confused   2019 Jan 6, 3:51am

The Midwest. Though looking to get out soon out of the dem hellhole. Weather sucks, taxes suck and stupid people keep voting dem no matter what. The ones that leave seem to keep voting dem wherever they go recreating this mess.

Why would anyone vote dem after -forget it. Much better to find a better place to move. Though these locusts arrive like the plague and destroy that and make it in the image of the thing they are fleeing from-fools.

At least FL is staying repub.

That's our beach. Jimmy Buffet took it over.

Now there's no parking on Hollywood beach other than a garage. They fill up early and it's pretty much full by noon on a nice weekend or holiday where the beach is popular.
We never even go, we used to BBQ right there on Johnson you can't any more.

What's wrong with people that tolerate patnetters in their neighborhoods?

Because Patnetters fit in perfectly in hell. We may even be considered "Elite" in hell.

Near NW side Chicago. 125 yr old balloon frame. A lot of work to keep out the rats, and dog poop, snow and ice is a nuisance. All our needs within 2.5 miles so traffic not an issue we gas up maybe 2x/mo. Wish more kids played outside. I have lived here since 83 age 6 and i have only had my Halloween candy stolen. Once my car was shot up by gbangers. A lot of prejudice as most coloreds assume whites are from suburbia or midwest ghost town, our own relatives said we lived in a slum growing up. The shoe is moving to the other foot.

Getting tired of all that sewage in the Tijuana river? That problem will never be fixed.

That's really only when it rains. We walk at the Tijuana Estuary quite a bit, it's the closest rural area in the city for us, and the river is at the south of the trails there. Only smelled really bad once that I remember.
Getting tired of the high cost of living in California. If I can get a big raise, will stay, otherwise will move to Arizona where pay is the same, but cost of living is 30% less.
