It’s a wonder that Democrats haven’t staked out a negotiating position demanding the destruction of already-existing barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Their opposition to Trump’s border wall (or, more properly, his so-called wall) is now so total as to be nearly indistinguishable from opposition to any serious infrastructure at the border at all. ...

For her part, Nancy Pelosi deems the wall “immoral.” She sounds like West Berlin Mayor Willy Brandt condemning the Berlin Wall as the “Wall of Shame”—when the East Germans built their border barrier to keep people in, whereas we want to only keep illegal entrants out.

If a wall is immoral, what standing does the current 350 miles of primary fencing have? Isn’t it just as hateful as what Trump proposes? The $5 billion the president wants wouldn’t even match what we already have—it would construct about 150 miles of new barriers where none currently exist. ...

A wall or fencing is relatively mild as far as immigration enforcement goes. It doesn’t involve deporting anyone. It doesn’t separate families. It doesn’t prosecute and detain anyone. It doesn’t deny any illegal immigrant currently working in the United States a job. All it does is seek to avoid getting in a situation where any of these things is necessary in the first place.

A wall doesn’t close down the border, or close us off to the world. There are still ports of entry. People can still travel to and from Mexico. People can still, for that matter, fly to Paris. It just diminishes illegal entry at certain strategic points.

Robust fencing made an enormous difference in stopping illegal crossings in Yuma, Ariz. The area had only about 5 miles of fencing in the mid-2000s, then saw the extent of its fencing increase 10-fold. ...

The wall isn’t the most important immigration enforcement measure. Requiring employers to verify the legal status of their employees, via the E-Verify system, would be much more consequential. But the wall has taken on great symbolic significance. What it denotes, perhaps more than anything else, is the growing irrationality of the Democrats on immigration enforcement.

They don’t want Donald to win. It’s an ego thing. They really hate those who stop the advance of socialism, imo.

Plus wall will keep future dem voters out. and the free slave labor.

It’s a Waterloo for Democrats.

The exposure is on the Big Government Liberals. The longer they let this thing drag on, the more exposed it will be. That America is better off with less Government even a shutdown Government.

True, it's all about not letting Trump win. Democrats seem quite willing to fuck over poor working Americans with mass illegal immigration to do that.

One good thing I heard recently about California: it's so lopsided in California that much of the Democratic vote there is wasted. That is, everything above 51% Democrat in California is not gaining them any seats.
5   FortWayneAsNancyPelosiHaircut   2019 Jan 5, 7:16pm

I think a lot of the over 51% is fake harvested ballots.

I read somewhere recently that we have 105% of the people registered to vote. And no way to tell who voted even still.
So much room for fraud.

There are no credible studies showing that building more border would be an effective solution to reduce illegal immigration, drugs, and bad hombres from pouring in.

STOP watching CNN and listening to assholes Schumer and Pelosi, they're melting your mind. Walls or fences have been proven to work all over the world!

Hungary credits razor wire border fence for almost 100 percent drop in illegal migration.

Hungary has claimed that its fences on the borders with Croatia and Serbia have helped to cut the inflow of migrants by 99.7 percent since 2015. The small inland nation now has one quarter of the length of its borders protected by a fence.

“The number of successful attempts to illegally cross the border fell from 391,000 in 2015 to 18,236 in 2016 and only 1,184 in 2017,” the Hungarian prime minister’s chief security advisor, Gyorgy Bakondi, told reporters at a press conference marking the second anniversary of the closure of the Hungarian-Serbian border on September 15.

Bakondi then said that such significant drop in the number of illegal migrants entering Hungary was “primarily the result of successful Hungarian border security” as he referred to the razor-wire fences erected by Hungary on its borders with Serbia and Croatia at the height of the refugee crisis.

"There are no multinational corporate funded think tanks who want the wall, so their studies are against it."

AFDC isn't 100% effective, so maybe we should stop funding it entirely.

Ahhh Shit, another one to prove you wrong...

New Data Shows 99% Drop in Illegal Entry

The number of illegal entries to Israel from Egypt has dropped by a factor of more than 280.

While 9,570 citizens of various African countries entered Israel illegally in the first half of 2012, only 34 did the same in the first six months of 2013 – a decrease of over 99 percent.

Multiple developments have been credited for the dramatic change. One is the new security fence which covers the 230 kilometers (144 miles) of border between Israel and Egypt.

It's because they didn't get the memo that "walls don't work".

Oh Crap.... Another country...

Norway to build border fence with Russia to keep out refugees

Norway is building a steel fence at its arctic border with Russia after an influx of thousands of refugees last year.

The new fence, which will be around 660 feet long and 11 feet high, will stretch from the Skorskog border point, sources in the Norwegian government told Reuters.

Trump pulls troops out of Syria, Democrats are beside themselves.

No matter what he does, Dems will oppose.

They are like irrational and emotional women that feel they’ve been hurt by a man. Logic goes out the window.

It’s just outrageous, Do we have immigration laws or don’t we? If we do, let’s fucking enforce them.

LoL, yeah my kids elementary school also built 660 feet of fence.

How many illegal immigrants jump over it and rape and rob the kids?

Further, a majority of illegal immigration into the US is from people who enter legally and over-stay their visas. Wall is 0% effective at reducing that.

So, the I.T. engineers from India, that overstayed their visa, are the ones bringing drugs, raping women, robbing stores and people, etc.?

Really?

It's worth mentioning deliberate starvations, terror and mass murders.

And who is perpetrating these atrocities on the Guatemalans? Is it those nasty ISIS jerks? Or could it be the North Koreans? Surely it has to be the insane murderous forces of Fidel Castro! No? Why, it’s the Guatemalans! They are doing it all to their own neighbors, and their kids are growing up to join the death squads. So why do we want such people here?

Translation:

"The increase in southern border security in the U.S. that has been taking place for the past decade or so, will and would have continued with or without Trump. Why don't the democrats want to let Trump take credit for it, with some wasteful spending on a few hundred miles of symbolic "wall ?""

That's awesome.

Thanks for proving Trump's point that the illegals are causing crime. Just think, when the wall is built, the second highest crime producing population will be gone. Just think how much safer Texas and the other border states will be.

Mission Accomplished!!

Who underwrites the CATO Institute?

Also, notice it's conviction rates, that means they had to find the illegal and get them to trial. If Juan Martinez murdered Jose over a drug deal in Denver and fled back to Mexico, or was picked up in San Fran on a DUI but let go on a 'bond' (LOL) before Nevada Authorities knew he was there, and then disappears, he wasn't "Convicted".

MUCH easier to convict Natives who have a lifetime of contacts, records, valid IDs, known addresses, friends and family in the area.

This is kind of the same thinking that lefties use when citing "Terror Attacks" which include sabotaging Logging Equipment, spraypainting Church Walls, as well as Shooting up Gay Nightclubs or California State Offices, without noting the huge disparity in the Non-Muslim vs. Muslim population. And not using "Terror Deaths" wherein 1% of the population is responsible for about half the terror deaths for the a single cause (or dishonestly counting Black Nationalism as right wing, when Mumia Abu-Jamal, BLM, etc. are Left-wing supported causes).

I wonder what the "Suspected Perp" rates are.

There's a lot of brutality in central America, even some in South America and those people come to the American border because they will die otherwise.

Because everyone knows that the only country that is safe in the whole world is the USA and the other 100's of millions that stay in their country are just counting their days until their demise by violent killers or starvation

True..

75% fail to appear for their court cases and run back into the shadows. Just think of the conviction rate if they could be caught and prosecuted, and weren't hiding in a sanctuary city.

I doubt anyone here has spent much time in Mexico where they live. I have.

All of the Mexicans who have a nice house have a wall around it, including the back yard. On top of this wall is barbed wire. Previously it was common to see broken bottles set into the concrete on the top.

So, the Mexicans who can afford it build walls around themselves to keep other Mexicans out.

My friend in Mexico sent me a picture to show off his cool back yard improvements; it looked like a prison with 10 foot walls with barbed wire all along the top. There is a locked steel gate in front of his house, you need a key to get to his driveway.

The Democrats want more foreigners in the USA by hook or by crook, because they vote for more government, not less.
