Guilluy: We have a new bourgeoisie, but because they are very cool and progressive, it creates the impression that there is no class conflict anymore. It is really difficult to oppose the hipsters when they say they care about the poor and about minorities.

But actually, they are very much complicit in relegating the working classes to the sidelines. Not only do they benefit enormously from the globalised economy, but they have also produced a dominant cultural discourse which ostracises working-class people.

The middle-class reaction to the yellow vests has been telling. Immediately, the protesters were denounced as xenophobes, anti-Semites and homophobes. The elites present themselves as anti-fascist and anti-racist but this is merely a way of defending their class interests. It is the only argument they can muster to defend their status, but it is not working anymore.

Now the elites are afraid. For the first time, there is a movement which cannot be controlled through the normal political mechanisms. The gilets jaunes didn’t emerge from the trade unions or the political parties. It cannot be stopped. There is no ‘off’ button. Either the intelligentsia will be forced to properly acknowledge the existence of these people, or they will have to opt for a kind of soft totalitarianism."

Left wants to erase the world and build it new in their way. Just like Stalinists and Nazis, only with an added twist of inclusiveness for sexually confused.

They are same kind of “nihilists”.

It's not from Zero Hedge. The original article is from http://charleshughsmith.blogspot.com/ I updated the post above to reflect that. Zero Hedge was just quoting.

I've met Charles Hughs Smith. He's a good guy. To call him "alt-right" would be so far off the mark as to be laughable. More of a hippie/commie type.

But the Left has no defense these days for the harm they have done to a hundred million workers by exporting their jobs and importing replacement workers that they have to assign guilt to their victims somehow to make themselves feel better. Usually with the "alt-right" smear, or "racism", or various other -isms.

It's getting kinda tiring since it is so predictable.

@Patrick, do you think we've reached peak SJW yet?
4   Patrick   2019 Jan 16, 9:11pm

I think we will know we have reached peak SJW when they start accusing inanimate objects of RACISM!
5   steverbeaver   2019 Jan 16, 9:13pm

IMO we are close to the peak. I predict tensions will continue to rise, but a disruptive event that makes the masses live rather uncomfortably will set off a rather rapid unwinding. My bet is critical mass will be reached with the next class of FWM's.

soft totalitarianism

I fear that's coming here. And I fear that the prospect of a leftist totalitarianism will be the justification for the right wing totalitarianism that we get. You can see early hints of it from Trump. All the talk about how political correctness is ruining us. Testing the waters. Can Trump get away with saying that he's not really a joke, and that it's all becasue of the negative media coverage that the global public opinion of him is so low ?
9   Patrick   2019 Jan 16, 10:17pm

Trump is quite popular in some countries, like Poland.

The more important point is that Trump is not popular with the "liberal urban bourgeoisie" anywhere, and yet is popular with ordinary people in those same places. The same dynamic is going on in Europe as in America: get SJW's to help import masses of unskilled foreigners to drive down wages and call anyone who objects a racist Nazi blah blah blah.

Our world is now broken into journalists vs comment sections. Journalists are a tiny minority trying to control the narrative, and the comment sections masses arent buying it. This is why they need censorship. They are desperate to appear the majority when the majority is starting to catch on.

The west is fighting back.

It's not just Trump . It's the entire fake package those bougie types want you to accept.

Read the Gillette ad comment section. Or almost any comment section outside of the huffpo. https://news.yahoo.com/51-old-man-arrested-striking-143414130.html for example, go to the conversations in twitter or any forum about this incident. Obviously race flamers came running... but almost EVERYONE who watched the video blamed the crowd of 20 thug idiot children who literally harassed this man until dropped this little girl.

The punch was indeed violent, difficult not to suggest he deserves some punishment.

The point is people arent buying into the narrative anymore. The fake news media can no longer pretend to be the majority or rational narrative. Claims of racism or almost anything coming out of Wapo/CNN/Msnbs/Huffpo are automatically seen as the propaganda by everyone but the most indoctrinated.

It is funny listening to the faithful believers try to say things like "normal people all just KNOW trump is a (liar/racist/etc...).

This so-called "Nuevo Bourgeoisie" is in essence, the ppl who hang with the Hillary Clintons and Liz Warrens of the world. In other words, they have cushy jobs or consulting gigs, where in effect, they earn money just like any other rentier, who owns lots of proprieties a/o businesses, but in this case, put on an act that they support the poor, the working poor, minorities, and everyone else who's downtrodden.

The truth is that everyone, whose family doesn't already have money, is becoming downtrodden. The forces of offshoring, automation, etc, will eliminate jobs down the road, not increase them. So yes, while it's possible to formulate strategies which can keep jobs stateside for a bit (basically Trump's tough stance on trade, etc), in the end, however, it's only a temporary wrinkle in time, before the jobs disappear once again.

It's over, there is no hope for humanity. By 2050, 80% of today's jobs will be gone forever. And no, the so-called creative economy will not generate jobs which pay. Think about it, how many newly minted "creative" architects, who've put in nearly 4+ years of post-undergrad training and certificates, earn these days? ... some $40K-$60K. Jeez ... a nurse starts at that (and with even less training) and as long as there are hospitals around, will probably find equivalent work if a clinic closes whereas that architect will probably be leaving his field if his firm loses a client or two.

And I'm talking about architects graduating from places like Columbia, Harvard, and MIT. I can only imagine how bad it must be for those from lesser schools.

Right now, because my firm does this PR stunt with academic institutes, you'd be shocked at how many graduate students in areas like architecture, natural sciences, etc, want to work in financial services. I'd say that there's a deluge of applicants coming from those areas and unfortunately, w/o a connection at the firm, most won't get a phone screening.

None of this bodes well. Only a decade ago, despite the outsourcing in IT, many of those same students would opt for a programming career but now, seeing that being Bezo's or Zuckerberg's bitch isn't the best plan, looking ahead, will do anything to get a job in a rentier sector like finance. Some start as programmers, with a hope of segueing into finance later on.

No it’ll get worse.
Left is very organized, they own education sector, and all that brainwashing against normal society is going to cause a lot of damage still.

They even want to teach gender identity in middle school as propaganda.

Leftist totalitarianism is already here. Right wing totalitarianism which society might be moving towards is the reaction to already existing left wing lunatic totalitarianism.

If it is perfectly OK to be racist against whites and Asians (including institutionalized, state-sponsored discrimination), to be sexist against males, to bash those population groups, etc, then argument that there is only a "prospect of leftist totalitarianism" is not true. Totalitarianism is already here.

It's the same principle that caused the rise of The Moral Majority with people such as Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell in the late 70's and into the 1980's. The right was reacting to a decade of societal evisceration caused by the sexual revolution and all the human destruction left in its wake--abandoned children, spouses, significant others who had never been married, STD's that had never existed before and eventually AIDS in the gay community--the source of today's 40% plus out-of-wedlock births among whites and 70% among black people. But let someone stand up and say enough is enough and you would have thought the world was coming to an end such was the hysteria from the left. You would have never had the rise of a Moral Majority in the 1950's or early 1960's because the actual majority was firmly on the side of family stability and sexual restraint even though some did stray as they always do. The stigmas against out-of-wedlock pregnancy and sleeping around worked.

While I have never met him, I have been reading his writings for a long time and the claim that he is alt-right is silly and I have never seen a hint form him. That is what made this article more poignant. What I particularly like is describing the ctr-left as an elitist exploitative and fascist new bourgeoisie is dead on accurate.
We do not need a rightwing counter reaction, we need common sense and for my bit, libertarian views.

Pretty much 'Leftism' is nothing more than a duck blind for consolidating power amongst the idiocracy, free-shit proletariat. The Libby Royalty don't believe a bit of it except as points of demagoguery.

Zerohedge is typical Russian propaganda. Always try to foment resentment of people against "the elite".
If necessary do that conflating completely different things: like the leftist gilets jaunes in France against the US liberal elite.
As if the elite in France was "liberal".
As if there were any "gilets jaunes" in the US that couldn't be stopped.

Sadly, true. Putin can never be wrong according to ZH, Russia is ideal despite being the worst kleptocracy in the world, etc. I have stopped reading them because they are blatantly hypocritical. Their adherence to reporting standards of Russia Today make me wonder if ZH is not funded by Russia.
