Crowdpac, a nonpartisan firm dedicated to political data analysis, used federal campaign-contribution records dating to 1980 to estimate where various officials and donors fall on the political spectrum.

It scored individual donors as being more liberal or conservative based on which candidates they gave to.

Crowdpac CEO and cofounder Steve Hilton told Business Insider this donation data "is the heart of the Crowdpac data model" because its "research shows that campaign contributions are the best predictor of how a candidate will behave in office."

Hilton explained that Crowdpac's main goal is to provide people "good objective, nonpartisan information about the candidates on their ballot in a simple form that they can understand."

The company believes this will help "boost the number of small donors and reduce the influence of big money in politics."

Gosh, think the news might be just a little bit biased in their reporting? Think reporters would ever stoop to fake news? Lol. All the time.

BTW, the Business Insider link at the top does not work for me in Firefox, some ssl error, but works in Safari just fine.

Research? Try common sense.

Comment from ZeroHedge on the same article:

Interestingly, if you were to introduce an IQ multiplier to these curves, so that each bar segment is multiplied by the median intelligence of its underlying cohort, say by IQ/100, all curves would flatten dramatically. In other words, political moderation correlates quite well with actual intellect, as opposed to relentless self-congratulation and self-dealing.

Only ones worse are academics and the entertainment fields:

Notice how the lobbyists are right in the middle more or less to take full advantage of everyone regardless. Same with the bankers, real estate weasels and Hedge funds.

Now if only the Liberal media was that smart, they could double-dip on both sides...

But sadly, they're not, just like their viewers.

Sure, lobbyists will suck anyone's cock for cash. No surprise there.

Also interesting: the leftists are much further to the left than conservatives are to the right.

The leftists are the extremists these days.

^^^ Typical comment by leftist elitist justifying hatred for the working class.

Another way of looking at this is the following:
Conservative side:

if we lose agriculture workers (farmers), we are in deep shit - we DIE!
If we lose miners, we will DIE as well as they produce, for example, fertilizers for agriculture.
If we lose oil/gas/coal, we will likely DIE as well. Fertilizers which feed us use nat gas in production, for example.
If we lose builders, we will be extremely inconvenienced.

Middle ground:
losing banksters and realtors would probably be a net plus.

Mildly left:
automobile producers - losing them would be negative. Losing dealers probably positive.
Losing lawyers - a YUUGE positive.

Very liberal:
other than losing online computer services, probably neutral. I have never actually NEEDED a Hollywood entertainment celebrity. Same for newspapers.

Conclusion: doing useful things makes people more conservative.

There you go, that's it in a nut shell.

So, if you break off California, and go sink it into the Pacific, we really wouldn't miss it, right?

Is Online Computer Services like Comcast, or like Tweeter?

I assume they mean Facebook and Google.
