Local news media "discovered"/"uncovered"/"broke-the-story"" of this phenomenon in other affordability crises in the late 1980's, late 1990's, buildup to 2007-08. Right on schedule. Folks making Sophie's Choice to piss away their lives in horrible commutes.

The graphic saying average commute from San Benito County is 59 minutes is hilarious. My average commute from East SJ to the extreme-near-edge of the "Golden Triangle" is about 50 minutes. All nine miles of it.

What she did not report on, is what will happen. The huge majority of those "techie" jobs are desk jobs. Easy to relocate. How productive can those folks be, spending 100+ minutes each way on their commutes? Big Employers are no doubt asking themselves that question. But they won't move to Stockton or Tracy, still in The Golden State with high taxes. Other regions beckon.
