You can’t even make this up, folks. The gays are calling him a “colonialist” for pushing pro-gay values on poor third world nations full of sad dark-skinned people.

Narrowly focused on criminalization, rather than broader LGBT issues like same-sex marriage, the campaign was conceived partly in response to the recent reported execution by hanging of a young gay man in Iran, the Trump administration’s top geopolitical foe.

Grenell, as Trump’s envoy to Germany, has been an outspoken Iran critic and has aggressively pressed European nations to abandon the 2015 nuclear deal and re-impose sanctions. But while the Trump administration has had some success in pressuring Iran through stepped-up U.S. penalties, efforts to bring the Europeans along have thus far largely fallen flat.

Reframing the conversation on Iran around a human rights issue that enjoys broad support in Europe could help the United States and Europe reach a point of agreement on Iran. Grenell called the hanging “a wake-up call for anyone who supports basic human rights,” in Bild, a leading German newspaper, this month.

“This is not the first time the Iranian regime has put a gay man to death with the usual outrageous claims of prostitution, kidnapping, or even pedophilia. And it sadly won’t be the last time,” Grenell wrote. “Barbaric public executions are all too common in a country where consensual homosexual relationships are criminalized and punishable by flogging and death.”

He added that “politicians, the U.N., democratic governments, diplomats and good people everywhere should speak up — and loudly.”

Yet by using gay rights as a cudgel against Iran, the Trump administration risks exposing close U.S. allies who are also vulnerable on the issue and creating a new tension point with the one region where Trump has managed to strengthen U.S. ties: the Arab world.

In Saudi Arabia, whose monarchy Trump has staunchly defended in the face of human rights allegations, homosexuality can be punishable by death, according to a 2017 worldwide report from the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA). The report identified 72 nations that still criminalize homosexuality, including eight where it’s punishable by death.

That list includes the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan and Afghanistan — all U.S. allies — although those countries aren’t known to have implemented the death penalty for same-sex acts. In Egypt, whose leader Trump has effusively praised, homosexual relations aren’t technically illegal but other morality laws are used aggressively to target LGBT people.

New U.S. pressure on those countries to change their laws comes as the Trump administration is working to use nascent ties between Arab nations and Israel to form a powerful axis against Iran, a strategy that dovetails with the administration’s planned rollout of an ambitious plan for Israeli-Palestinian peace.

So is Trump really interested in LGBT rights etc. or is this a convenient medium to get allies to go against Iran ?

If he was really really interested in this issue - perhaps a repeated public condemnation of the Saudis etc. is in order as well otherwise it is yet one more political ploy to get Bolton's dreamed of war.

The U.S, gets their war to "save" the oppressed while giving a wink and a nod to our "allies" who will provide back-up (we hope) as they continue to do whatever the hell they fell like to the LGBT community in their countries, reporters and anyone else who is deemed an infidel.

As long as they (our allies - the same one who flew planes in the world trade center) continue to buy our weapons, and make sure we get our oil and the Big Oil majors in this country keep the Petro-Dollars coming in to boost the stock price - it's all good.

Anyone heard any updates on how our efforts our going to get the Americans still being held in Iran going ? If it's going to get done- shouldn't an extraordinary deal maker be making this shit happen ?

This is the story you should have picked up on instead of trying to make a desperate attempt to give Trump credit for supporting LGBT rights - which he is not. Double down on that for the Pence family.

Supreme Court Delivers Unanimous Victory for Asset Forfeiture Challenge

The Eighth Amendment prohibition against excessive fines and fees applies to states as well, SCOTUS rules, opening a new way to challenge outlandish forfeitures.

States are bound by the Eighth Amendment's prohibition against excessive fines and fees when they seek to seize property or other assets from individuals charged or convicted of a crime, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled unanimously on Wednesday.

It's a decision that hands a major victory to critics of civil asset forfeiture, and it opens another avenue to legal challenges against that widely used (and often abused) practice by which states and local governments can seize cars, cash, homes, and pretty much anything else that is suspected of being used to commit a crime.

The case before the Supreme Court, Timbs v. Indiana, involved the seizure of a $42,000 Land Rover SUV from Tyson Timbs, who was arrested in 2015 for selling heroin to undercover police officers. He pleaded guilty to his crimes and was sentenced to one year of house arrest and five years of probation. On top of that, the state of Indiana seized his 2012 Land Rover—which he had purchased with money received from his late father's life insurance payout, not with the proceeds of drug sales—on the ground that it had been used to commit a crime.

Timbs challenged that seizure, arguing that taking his vehicle amounted to an additional fine on top of the sentence he had already received. The Indiana Supreme Court rejected that argument, solely because the U.S. Supreme Court had never explicitly stated that the Eighth Amendment applied to the states.

On Wednesday, the high court did exactly that.

"For good reason, the protection against excessive fines has been a constant shield throughout Anglo-American history," wrote Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the opinion. "Excessive fines can be used, for example, to retaliate against or chill the speech of political enemies," she wrote, or can become sources of revenue disconnected from the criminal justice system.

Indeed, some local governments do use fines and fees as a means to raise revenue, and that has created a perverse incentive to target residents. After the 2014 shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, a federal investigation into the city government found that 20 percent of its general fund came from criminal fines. And Ferguson is not alone in relying heavily on revenue from fines. Making clear that the Eighth Amendment applies to the states will make it far easier to challenge unreasonable fines and fees—including not just asset forfeiture cases, but also situations where local governments hit homeowners with massive civil penalties for offenses such as unapproved paint jobs or Halloween decorations.

Some of those cases are already getting teed up. As C.J. Ciaramella wrote in this month's issue of Reason, a federal class action civil rights lawsuit challenging the aggressive asset forfeiture program in Wayne County, Michigan, that was filed in December argues that the county's seizure of a 2015 Kia Soul after the owner was caught with $10 of marijuana should be deemed an excessive fine.

More broadly, Timbs is a good reminder of how ridiculous the argument in favor of civil asset forfeiture really is. During oral arguments in November, Indiana's solicitor general got boxed into a corner by Justice Stephen Breyer, who managed to twist the government's lawyer into arguing that Indiana should be allowed to seize vehicles for as small an offense as driving 5 mph over the speed limit, which literally elicited laughter in the courtroom.

After Wednesday's ruling, there's a better chance that more civil asset forfeiture cases will be laughed right out of court for being what they obviously are: unconstitutional, excessive punishments that don't fit the crime.

That is the story that should have gotten attention - not the phony bullshit spin job story about LGBT rights - they don't give a fuck about LGBT rights unless it can be used for some political purpose and in this case not even a very good one.

Using one group as another desperate pretext to go to war that Bolton would give both nuts to see started is bullshit

Can't make this shit up either - 5 upvotes and counting on a total bullshit spin story.

Then again reading is not required to respond to headlines since that would require some effort to see alternate sources reporting on the same story that might contain lots of words and no pictures.

Convinced? Democrats fought to keep slavery , democrats were klansmen, democrats wear blackface and yet calim moral superiority. For the first time a US President seeks to end criminalization of homosexuality in the world, as usual democrats seethe with rage.

Just as democrats fought to keep slavery intact and now seek to import socialism to our shores and enslave us again.

I just find it comical that no matter which cause Trump comes out in support of, Leftists suddenly decide he is wrong for supporting it.
In this case, they can’t quite manage to wrangle the cause itself as bad, but Kaki’s argument boils down to this: “we don’t think he means it.”

Yah... psychic mind reading by Democrats makes Trump wrong again!
It’s a sickness.
I can’t wait until Trump comes out against water and oxygen. We’ll have blue, dehydrated Leftists passing out in the street!

Trump apparently not familiar with his administration's push for global decriminalization of homosexuality

President Trump reacted with surprise when asked Wednesday about reports that his administration was making a global push to decriminalize homosexuality.

In an Oval Office exchange with reporters, Trump was asked about the plan, which was first reported by NBC News on Tuesday.

“Mr. President, on your push to decriminalize homosexuality, are you going to do that? And why?”

“Say it?” Trump responded.

“Your push to decriminalize homosexuality around the world,” the reporter clarified.

“I don’t know which report you’re talking about,” Trump said. “We have many reports.”

In an interview with NBC News, U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell, the highest-ranking gay official in the Trump administration, said the U.S. would begin pressuring 71 countries where homosexuality remains a crime to overturn their laws. The effort comes after Iran executed a man this summer over his sexual orientation.

“It’s unbelievable ... that in today’s world a 32-year-old man in Iran can be hanged simply for being gay,” Grenell said.

Asked whether Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Trump himself supported the aim of global decriminalization of homosexuality, Grenell offered only a mild reassurance.

“I am happy to talk to them. I know that decriminalizing homosexuality is something that people absolutely agree is a policy that we have to move forward on.”

In a tweet posted Tuesday, the president’s eldest son championed the policy.

Trump’s overall record on LGBT rights is far from stellar. The president reinstated a ban on transgender soldiers from serving in the U.S. armed forces and he has scaled back or rescinded protections for transgender workers. The administration has also argued in court on behalf of a bakery asserting its First Amendment rights to discriminate against gay couples.

And no - a thousand times no - Potus is not sincere and quadruple that for anything coming out of Pence's mouth. His record in Indiana proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt.

If you want to talk about sickness - read up on Pence - that will ruin your lunch and then some. Talk about a sick fuck...

Transgenderism is a mental disorder and such disturbed individuals are not ideal for our military, would cause unnecessary disruptions and extra cost. They weren’t born transgender, unlike actual protected classes like ethnicity and sex. And they don’t get to have extra-legal rights with regard to public bathrooms, gym showers, etc. that was over reach by Obama and it has been corrected.
But Trump’s actual record on gay rights is pretty stellar! Look it up, you might be surprised.

You mean from here ? “Gays For Trump” Founder Defends The Donald’s “Stellar Record On LGBT Rights” . "Donald Trump put his money where his mouth is."

On CNN, Johnson argued that a “Gays for Trump” group is inherently counterintuitive because Trump is unequivocally bad for the gay community regardless of what he says.

http://www.newnownext.com/gays-for-trump-founder-defends-the-donalds-stellar-record-on-lgbt-rights/06/2016/

“He met today in New York…with a thousand evangelical leaders [including] James Dobson, Jerry Falwell Jr., and Ralph Reed.” said Johnson. “A who’s who of the anti-gay right – people who have made a professional career of demonizing and denigrating gay people. There have been serious impacts and efforts that have really hurt gay people because of what these folks have done.”

He continued: “Donald Trump is against marriage equality, Donald Trump says he wants to remake the Supreme Court and make it even more conservative. Donald Trump has never been there for the gay community so it is laughable to me that just because he says those four letters [LGBT], he is all the sudden a champion. He is a megalomaniacal, arrogant crazy person.”

Barron responded by pointing out Hillary Clinton’s lukewarm record on marriage equality and LGBT equality, implying the Democratic presidential frontrunner only changes her platforms to match popular opinions when it’s politically expedient.

Said Barron:

“What I think is hilarious is that Donald Trump’s not allowed to talk to evangelical Christians, but Hillary Clinton can take $50 million from Saudi Arabia, where the penalty for being gay ranges from chemical castration to death…and she’s supposed to be a champion for the LGBT community?

Hillary Clinton has been for LGBT rights when it’s been politically expedient for her. The fact is Donald Trump has a career in business that has a stellar record on LGBT rights, so don’t sit here and say that Donald Trump has never been a friend of the LGBT community, because the truth is Donald Trump put his money where his mouth is.”

What happened, maybe knee trouble? Or did some other toothless geezer bring superior talent to the Reseda truck stop and win away all the Teamsters with their sanctifying balm? Maybe it was a healthier, better looking guy?

If the Reseda truck stop isn't offering the same attention it did in the past, then maybe it's time to consider a different activity. Past a certain age, some guys take up another hobby, like gardening or decorating. Their homes look fabulous.

If hobbies can't compete with the obsession, then perhaps there might be an even lower end truck stop farther away, for non-union drivers. They might not speak English, but they do have sanctifying balm. Maybe it's time to invest in a pair of high quality knee pads?
