In an attempt to reduce personal attacks, I've made the site automatically color the words you and your in red.

This is just an experiment. I might reverse it.

The goal is to see no red in one's posts or comments. (See what I did there with "one's"?)

You and your big ideas!

You may have an exception if " you" is the first word.

You are right, but I think I've fixed that now.

Bold seems like a bit much if it's already red.

It all seems like too much, but we must cater to the minority snowflakes.... as usual...

It's a fun experiment, that's all. The goal is to get people to stop thinking in terms of "this asshole" and more in terms of "the real issue is this".
15   Hircus   2019 Feb 24, 6:15pm

fuck thou niceness
16   Patrick   2019 Feb 24, 6:27pm

Lol
17   Ceffer   2019 Feb 24, 6:33pm

Maybe change you' to you ASSHOLE' in gibbon ass purple.
18   Patrick   2019 Feb 24, 6:36pm

I kinda like it, to make the point even better.

But maybe it's hard gramatically. You are right" would become you ASSHOLE are right" which just isn't right.

Maybe, but it puts them on notice that you are prepared to defend your position for the many times they are NOT right.

What you're going to find out is how often YOU is used in everyday conversation and NOT in the way you think it's being used.
21   Patrick   2019 Feb 24, 10:27pm

Yes, I know it's used to mean "one" in American English. But that's OK. I just want to try this out for a while.

Thank you, lol.

If that's the goal, go back to having the number of people a member is "Ignoring" listed on their profile page. This way all the other posters will know how "tolerant" they are of other people's opinions. There are currently a few posters "ignoring" a bunch of people that offer opposing thoughts, so the only thing they see are people in their same "echo-chamber". Now the sock puppets just are spamming the forum without considering other's comments, is this what you want?

If transparency is the goal, make the software changes so everyone knows who's being ignored or who they are ignoring.

To commenter for comment #26 - on ignore now, going to stay on ignore.

MrMagic says

Opposing thoughts - or trolling and screaming TDS, Librul, Commie, etc - and not a single remotely intelligent comment or rebuttal from a news source or other article?

Comment 134 on the reply thread was a perfect example

This was tried the other day on another thread by someone who claimed their forum experience was being damaged.

Then there are those wonderful profanity laced diatribes

If someone has nothing to offer but stupid bullshit - on ignore they go and stay, by the way I am one of those posters who has a group on ignore - happy now ?

Well, that exactly proves my point in my comment above. Doesn't get any clearer, does it?

Crystal.

This is a great idea. @Patrick

I only worry about an uptick in the usage of "ur" "yur" "u", etc...

Opposing thoughts or commentary as per #28. It is a thought and I will leave it at that.

This is the same tired argument by the same people that was brought against Dan8267 and Bellingham Bill (who by the way I think still holds the record for the most people on ignore)

This has nothing to do with "tolerance" and everything to do with being impeded to a small degree from running wild thru the threads to see how many times someone can be "triggered" and then wait for the high fives in the form of like votes from the allies to roll in.

I can see everything everyone says and posts when I am logged off so there is nothing for me to miss - everyone else can see what everyone else posts and comments on when are not logged in.

The only thing that is diminishing someone from having a pleasant chat experience on here is the ability to troll unimpeded when they are on ignore.

Well, they can't attack you personally. If you see it, flag it.

I like it. Slightly more complex though, since I can't just do a substitution but also have to modify the verb, because English.

That is, I can't just change "Once you see the point..." to "Once my right honorable friend see the point..."

Lol that’s awesome.

But sometimes won’t make sense :(
