Pilot is lifted off the ground and zooms through the air in go-kart in Toscana, Italy
The aircraft with propellers flies across fields and even turns around mid-flight
Tomasz Patan, from Poland, spent months designing the bizarre contraption

A pilot could not hide his excitement as he took to the skies for the first time in his home-made flying go-kart.

The clip, filmed in Toscana, Italy, shows the bizarre contraption fitted with propellers taking its first ever flight as it whizzes across fields.

GoPro footage captured the pilot speeding effortlessly through the air - and even twisting in a 180 degree turn mid-flight.

For when you want to bomb somebody with yourself?

Awesome. We are so close to having an inexpensive way around traffic and parking. I’ve been following flying cars since 2003 and did a master’s marketing project on the Moller concept. He seemed to hit a wall and the electric drone with integrated safety features seems to have really sprung up.

Having flown drones, I am very confident that they can be made safe for regular people to operate.

I’ve got enough engineering ability to build that too. But it’s not practical. If lots of people do it, it’ll be dangerous.

I believe what stopped the personal rotorcraft from becoming mainstream was the Interstate Highway System.

Gyrocopters have been around for a long time. They generally require forward motion to stay airborne. The Marine pic above is a true helicopter. Has a rear prop to balance torque.

Autonomous lifting vehicles will save lives in cities by beating traffic to get to the hospital. Load the gurney with a stable patient, vehicle lands itself at the nearest medical facility. After checking your coverage first, of course.
