Remember the Korean War? What We Did to Their Country? Why Would Kim Jong un give up his nukes?

Why would Kim Jong un give up his nukes? After what we did to them during the Korean war? We flattened their country, killed millions of their people. "Over two million Korean civilians died including many tens of thousands of children." And after what we did to Iraq, years of sanctions to weaken them, disarm them, then invade them and take over their country. That's the American way. So why should he give up his nukes? It's the only way to defend himself from attack.

He won't ever - He saw what happened to others who took a deal from the U.S.

If I were Trump, I would say, keep a nuke or two, but limit it to that and inspect of course, but let them have a nuke for safe keeping and sign an agreement to that effect as long as they agree never to launch another missile.

Trump can say whatever he wants - Kim is keeping all of his shit and then some - Kim is not the Dotard in this meeting

Trump better say the same thing to Xi and Putin while he informs Kim he can only keep a nuke or two - they have Kim's back - bigly

Ukraine gave up nukes and was attacked by Russia, despite having borders guaranteed by everyone. Kim has nukes and has not been attacked, while less fortunate dictators without nukes have been. Seems rational (from his viewpoint) to keep nukes. If Trump manages to wrestle them from him, I will morph into Bigliest Trump supporter.

Trump will get "all" of Kim's nukes the same time as China and Russia keep one or two of theirs therefore no need to do any morphing

Where the hell do we get off telling another sovereign nation what they can or can not do ?

We seem to get our nation's panties into a collective knot if someone dare say something disparaging about this place

Want to talk about nuclear threats - look at India and Pakistan - there is a couple of nuclear threats one can believe in

How did the Korean War start?

Did the US invade North Korea?

Trump has made a good faith effort to deal with an unreasonable dictator. Maybe he just needs to give it all a rest and focus his energies on other things for a while.

The real threat to Americans is at the southern border.

Then why didn't Potus stay here to lead the country thru the crisis ?

How many "real" threats does this place have ?

Iran, Iraq, Venezuela, the southern border - when the hell do we run out of boogeymen ?

Sounds like a great time though for some leadership and staying his ass in Washington and actually try to lead, not Mar-A-Lago or some other Trump property to play golf and schmooze or piss away the days shoving hamberders in his face watching Fox on the tube to see what he should do next.

Comparing and contrasting progress of the previous regime with the current Administration:

Seoul nuclear summit: North Korea snubs Barack Obama over missile
North Korea has dismissed a demand from President Barack Obama that it scrap plans to launch a satellite marking the centenary of the birth of Kim Il-sung as world leaders sounded a global alert over the threat of nuclear terrorism.

Obama's "Firmness" with North Korea celebrated
After campaigning on the untenable promise that he would meet with leaders like Kim Jong Il without preconditions, President Obama has actually approached North Korea with a firmness that sometimes eluded the Bush administration in its last year. The Obama administration has strengthened trilateral security coordination with Japan and South Korea; implemented tough U.N. Security Council sanctions against the North after its nuclear tests; and rebuffed Chinese pressure for emergency six-party talks in the wake of Pyongyang’s unprovoked attacks on South Korea. Given the North’s escalating provocations and nuclear cheating and Beijing’s dangerous complacency, this is the only strategy that has a prospect of deterring further belligerency and reversing the incentives the North sees in proliferation on the peninsula and beyond.

How the Atlanticists dismissed Obama's failures:
Obama, Don’t Take It Personally, North Korea Just Hates Black People
"In 1965, the Cuban ambassador to the DPRK, a black man, was squiring his wife and some Cuban doctors" around Pyongyang, the scholar of North Korea B.R. Myers wrote in his 2010 book, The Cleanest Race. "Locals surrounded their car, pounding it and shouting racial epithets. Police called to the scene had to beat the ...

Obama got nothing from Kim. In fact, he told Kim not to launch rockets and Kim did anyway and there was no retaliation by Obama. Yet another "Red Line" that was crossed without Obama following through on threats.

Trump has gotten a no new tests promise for nothing, plus the hostages back, plus NK-SK talks. The only holdup is that Kim wants all sanctions dropped in return for scrapping most of his nukes, but Trump wants a tit for tat end of sanctions relative to Nuclear Disarmament.

Compared to Obama, Trump has climbed several Mountains. Obama couldn't even get halfway up the first without collapsing back down to the valley, then walking away.

Fust ove awl, these aren't Korea's Nukes! These are China's Nukes.
We're talking about a country that the leader of has to take a Train built in the 50's on a 70 hour train ride to a Leadership Summit.

Neither did Trump - has it ever dawned on anyone on this forum that is screaming MAGA and Winning hysterically day in and day out Kim may not have the need to do any more testing and if it is rockets, rocket engines etc. that need testing - that can be done on Russian or Chinese soil

The hostages would have come back anyway - SOP for Kim.

Bring the Americans back that are still being held in Iran and I might do some morphing like someone else mentioned yesterday

Kim is not a Dotard - he will never give up all of his nukes - might as well learn to live with a nuclear North Korea and figure out how to make the best of it.

Agree. Not only did they suffer from the Korean war, The Japanese really fucked them in WW11. I think the best way forward is through S. Korea.

Korean deal won't happen w/o Ukraine's (and Georgia's) borders restored first. US needs to restore its credibility as a guarantor. Which means going full Reagan on Russia's ass.

Hmmm, hasn't been a nuke test since Kim conceeded that last year.

Or, a rocket test since 2017.

They brought that shit on themselves by attacking South, hello! The war has started by NK crossing 38th parallell and almost wiping out the SK, not US attacking NK out of the blue like you make it sound.
