US Budget Deficit Widens 77% in First 4 Months of Fiscal 2019

The government ran a $310 billion deficit from October through January, compared with $176 billion during the same period a year earlier, a 77% increase, the Treasury Department said Tuesday.

This is as bad as it gets, and is getting worse. Our Orange Savior does nothing. I understand that it is politically difficult to do something about the deficit, but the problem is becoming catastrophic. It is easier for all of us to argue about irrelevant things while money is handed to military industrial complex, medical industrial complex, and other assorted Masters of Universe.

It ain't over yet, the Dems just took control of the House, where spending bills get written.

Can you remember 2008? Hint, the Dems took control of Congress in the beginning of 2007...

Look out below..................

Just wait until those hundreds of thousands of kids get asylum benefits. They get it even before they are ruled Asylees.

Billions in fresh new benefit payouts, and there's no way the Dems will take that away.

I'm disappointed by the partisanship. Every American should be calling out either party on their unchecked spending when they are in power. It always happens, which means we're not holding them accountable. Right now, Trump is the spendthrift. Hold him accountable.

Everything in your list can be fixed by voting in someone with the vision to make those changes.

The biggest thing right now is the Leftist Despots vying to take over our Democratic Republic and turn it into a Caligula Circus of Death and Hatred of all things decent and good.
The destruction of Constitutional rights of every American citizen. Illegals have had better rights and services than our own Citizens. Now we understand why it's been this way for so long.

If shit don't change they will win every Federal Election regardless how the electorate votes. Trump wont stand a chance in 2020 neither will any Republican candidate.

OK, that's fine.

But why didn't you do that during Obama's 8 years, when he DOUBLED the debt in that time period. All we heard then was crickets.

Some people did criticize Obama...Republicans. On the other hand, Krugman and his Democratic cohorts think that deficits matter only when we have a Republican President. Sadly, both parties are at fault here.

Yep. In partisan politics, the ultimate loser is the budget. Partisans are always happy to point at the other side's fiscal irresponsibility while ignoring their own. The US is on course to defeat itself, probably with the subtle help of China and Russia.

Krugman, as a die hard Keynesian, should be running column after column demanding Democrats cut Spending

Since Keynes called for cutbacks during periods of prosperity and low unemployment, ie right now.

But don't hold your breath.
