From what I've read, she knowingly deceived investors and committed fraud. She lied about the performance of her company's product line. It was not as if she applied some accounting hacks and just engaged in unethical behavior.

She didn't lie about the product, it simply didn't exist in any working manner. She's no different than your average 19th century Snake Oil salesman.

She sold the "non existent product" to doctors and investors.
She is facing multiple fraud charges.
Her net-worth went from $4.5 Billion to nothing.
She is facing up to 20 years in prison.

Yes, she was the darling of the mainstream media and social justice crowd. After all, she had great timing as there were a lot of demands on Silicon Valley to promote women.
