Please Don't Inject Fruit Juice Directly in Your Vein

The fundamental lack of critical thinking skills exhibited by people today is astounding.

"I had thought fresh fruits were very nutritious and it would not do me harm by injecting them into my body."

First, eating fruit, versus juicing it is VERY different. Fruit juice is basically pure sugar, you won't get any of the fiber you ingest from eating it. Secondly, fruit in any form when ingested passes through your body's digestive system. It's a system you were born with that knows what parts of food you need, which parts you don't, and which parts could kill you(see liver). Was her fruit even organic?

And yes, there is a corollary here. What else must normally pass through our many layers of defense, but we're routinely told to inject it directly into our kids veins...

Not exactly the same, but neither outlook produces optimal health.

“A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.”

Because a little knowledge of a subject can make a person think they grasp it well enough to make a really bad decision that’s completely uninformed by the little bit they know.

No, we were not idiots, but were a bit reckless. How many of you:

Jumped off the roof with an umbrella thinking you would float down like a parachute?

Built ramps in parking lots to ride over with your bikes and get serious air time?

Built and hung out in a tree fort?

Played pickup tackle football without helmets or pads?

Jousted on bikes using broom sticks and trash can lids?

Games with the bigger kids like "King of the Hill," "Dodge Ball," and "Smear the Queer."

And there was always some pud around with a potato gun, firecrackers, or games like "Jarts."

"Dodge Ball,

Yes, this use to be called War Ball back in the 1970s. And it was allowable to throw the rubber ball at the opponents head.

Yes, M-80 firecracker were the rage. But I doubt anyone between 12 and 25 would buy them today.

I remember packing a bunch of foam boat bumpers with M80s and throwing them at each other at the docks. You had to dodge them as BOOM! All the foam bits would go flying.

Of course, back then the cops were cool and not under pressure to write everything up for local government financing purposes.

Basically we got a "Knock it off, sonny."

I say it often that GenX and generations before us, didn't do stupid shit that would self harm us, because we grew up watching slapstick comedy, Bugs Bunny, and Tom and Jerry cartoons. Our cartoons did all of the stupid shit for our amusement so we didn't have to.

With all the regulation keeping dumb people from killing themselves, I applaud the relentless, inventive nature of stupidity to keep finding ways to exit the gene pool.
Question: why do we keep saving these people from themselves? DNR should apply in cases of massive dumbass.

I can put a check next to most of the items @HeadSet mentioned.

I also played WWF with my friend where we would take turns putting each other in wrestling holds. I made him see stars with my Boston Crab, and he gave me shin-splints with his Figure Four. I broke both pinkies and a toe playing sports(basketball, football, soccer). But the topper was jumping off a box in the gym in college so we could dunk the ball, missing the rim, and fracturing my elbow. To this day I still can't straighten it all the way.

..And I lived in Michigan, so YES to M80's!
