I wonder if the white dude who got first punched said something real offensive to trigger the black dude. I would not put it past something like that happening.
Still the black dude should be charged with assault.

Depends on what the white dude said/did. if something very offensive/threatening, then black guy should be let off
Sorry bro, you can't physically assault someone over words.

That is how E. Europe is different from US - and this goes together with not helping someone when he/she is in trouble from hooligans, such as in http://patrick.net/post/1323310/2019-03-22-soyboys-film-as-man-assaults-old-lady-on-subway
Be impolite and suffer consequences. As Russians say, the polite man has the best teeth

Let me see if I understand you correctly. Are you saying the man who started the physical assault AND also committed the stabbing, is the one with moral standing?

If someone would come to a person and say "you are a fucking prick" I would think that hitting the rude person in mouth would be perfectly justifiable.
I do not know about the situation in original post because I do not know what was said/done before the assault.
Offensive words are not protected, meaning they can hit back. That has been reinforced by courts many times.
Just FYI

Can you provide an example? Also, how is it that courts have said you can flip off a cop?
stand on the corner calling everyone a faggot, and sue if they punch you.
I had a cop tell me that during a seminar.
It does check out, fighting words aren’t protected. Otherwise you can stand on the corner calling everyone a faggot, and sue if they punch you.
