... I don't understand why you call me anti-American when all my posts pump up China, Russia, India, South Africa, etc. And have nothing but criticism for the USA and no solutions that aren't based around the United States kowtowing to whatever 'solution' is currently offered by leftist politicians, economists, the UN, and NGOs.

The U.S. is kowtowing to Israel, The House of Saud and anything else that is connected to oil or has a dollar sign attached.

I must be a very bad patriot huh ?

Not wrapping myself up in the flag, criticizing Potus and his administration (like I have done with everyone since the 1960s), realizing there is an entire world out there and the universe does not end at our coasts or borders, supporting protests, traveling abroad and having close friends who are not American, anti-war etc......oh, I don't put in a weekly appearance at one of the local houses of worship as well (no need for me to pretend by showing up since whatever or whoever knows what is in my mind and heart anyway) but I am active in my church.

Not very good at quoting scripture either and I have lived in sinful cities (according to my relatives) and taken part in debauchery.

Nationalists be like.... Potus new buddy Bolsonaro

President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil has reinstated commemorations of the 1964 coup that inaugurated two decades of military dictatorship marked by widespread torture and killings, Human Rights Watch said today.

Also here:

Brasília (AFP) - Brazil's right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro on Monday ordered the armed forces to hold "appropriate commemorations" of the March 1964 military coup -- while denying it was a coup.

"Our president has ordered the Defense Ministry to carry out appropriate commemorations related to March 31, 1964," 55 years on, Bolsonaro's spokesman Otavio Rego Barros said at Planalto Palace in Brasilia.

The celebrations should be carried out according to "what the commanders deem right within their respective garrisons, and within the context in which they should be performed," the spokesman added.

Bolsonaro, an ex-Army captain, says he admires the military dictatorship that overthrew President Joao Goulart and ruled the country for over two decades until 1985.

Yet "the president does not consider what happened March 31, 1964 a military coup," Barros said.

"He believes that society as a whole, perceiving the danger that the country was experiencing," was able that day to unite "civilians and military, to recover and return to our country onto its course.

"And if that had not happened, today we would have here some kind of government that would not be good for anyone," the spokesman added.

Bolsonaro has always been a strong supporter of the Brazilian military.

Since taking office in January, he has also had fond words for other military dictatorships in Latin America in the 1970s and 1980s, such as the Paraguayan Alfredo Stroessner (1954-1989) and that of Chile's Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990).

@TPB

Why is it that the same people who think banning guns will not stop gun violence but think banning abortions will stop abortions?
8   anonymous   2019 Mar 31, 8:22am

@TPB & others...

After the abortion ban how many of the "patriot" wing of the forum will be happy to provide support from pre-natal to adult hood for the indigent families who are saddled with the unwanted children?

Not sure of the degree of sincerity in the belief on this matter for those ranting against abortion but it does support the party line.

Bring more unwanted children in the world, deny them social services etc. and then condemn the very families who had the children as being irresponsible.

Double down on the condemnation when the children lack a proper education, can't get a job, commit crimes, can't afford medical treatment, go to the Emergency Room and can't pay, rely on SNAP and other welfare - in other words a permanent burden on society.

What am I missing in the logic of the abortion ban?

Jebus ?

I vote for "sick fucks" but it never ceases to amaze me as a voting block they right always manage to be okay with more funding for another round or two or three of nation building somewhere.

No problem for aid to Israel, the House of Saud, big oil, mega farms, most anything business etc. but Jebus forbid if someone is in need in this country - especially if they are not white.

Double down on all that for those lazy shiftless alcohol abusing Indians that are stuck on reservations.

MLTC - if you were including me in the message here, I really do not care one smidgen of an iota and to quote those famous words from Gone With The Wind...

"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn"

The flag and other symbols - I leave for the symbol minded - just like George Carlin.

Wrapping one's self up in the flag and clutching a bible while ignoring the goings on around them does not a patriot make.

All in the name of "National Security" - sounds great, just the right amount of fear hinted at but never fully explained - when all else fails - National Security will work every time.

Republicans want this and they want that but they don't want to pay any more in taxes. Isn't that the definition of wanting free shit.

They want a wall, but they want someone else to pay for it ... Perfect example.

Republicans want a wall to stop people from coming into the country illegally who want free shit, and are a net drain on the local, state, and federal tax revenues.

Why does this thread have a NSFW rating?
