Washington (AFP) – US border authorities plan to give rapefugees families DNA tests to determine whether or not the adults and children are related, Department of Homeland Security officials said Wednesday.

A “Rapid DNA” test program is being launched in several places along the US-Mexico frontier, where tens of thousands of rapefugees have been crossing the border each month, many in family units asking for asylum.

US officials say some involve adults using unrelated children as a means of entering and remaining in the United States, and the new tests aim at preventing this.

They plan to take cheek swabs of the rapefugees and process them to prove a parent-child relationship. Those whose claims are fraudulent will be prosecuted, the officials said.

“We know the problem we are seeing, we know these are fraudulent family units,” an official said on condition of anonymity.

Nearly 190,000 rapefugees entered the country in family units without immigration documents between October and March, according to Customs and Border Protection statistics.

DHS said questioning and other investigative techniques revealed that more than 1,000 of these “families” were not what they claimed.

The DNA tests will focus on identifying parent-child relationships, not other familial links like uncle-child.

The DHS official said the new program will determine whether the use of Rapid DNA — a two-hour procedure in which a cheek swab is processed in a portable DNA analysis instrument — on the border is feasible and affordable.

“This may be the way of the future,” the official said.

This should be also mandatory in the 50 states for:

1) Proving paternity before putting a mans name listed as the father on a birth certificate.
2) Welfare agencies to prove paternity before socking some guy with child support payments.
3) In all divorce cases involving children.

The last one you would think would be a no-brainer. But many family courts deliberately refuse to accept such tests as evidence because their main concern is to stick the bill for supporting the kids to some dude even under the flimsiest of legal pretext ("He has been their father and never challenged paternity until now"). One lawyer posted online how he has his father clients also sue for tort damages in civil courts against the wife, filing the test results as court approved evidence, then takes that admitted evidence to show up at family court and the judge gets furious because he/she can't deny those tests as evidence then. The tort case for punitive damages can also be used as leverage against the wife to get a far better settlement deal negotiated for family court.

At least in Europe, if rapefugees show up with anyone under 22 is treated as "children of rapefugee" of any number. Some carrying iphones! that costs 2-3 time that of US.
