Attorney General William Barr has assigned the United States attorney in Connecticut to look into the origins of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s probe into the Trump campaign, according to reports.
Barr has appointed John Durham for the assignment, according to the New York Times. Durham has a history of investigating potential wrongdoing among national security officials.
Separately, the DOJ’s inspector general, Michael Horowitz, is due to issue a report on his findings on whether the FBI acted improperly when investigating the Trump campaign and launching an investigation in July 2016.
It's not looking good. We know already Strzok & Company told the FISA judge it was based on Issikoff's article, rather than the dossier they paid Hillary Campaign contractor Fusion GPS for. And that Issikoff got it from DNC's Chalupa - and the date of their email is May, weeks before the article was written.
I would have been more excited and expected a better outcome. Had he announced he's assigning This IG to look into the IG Huber and Sessions who appointed him for the exact same Lip Service a Year and half ago. Does this mean this guy will now go into obscurity until this all blows away? The Buck stops with Barr, he already knows what's going on in Washington, theatrics like this is not promising.
If he were serious he would have somebody with teeth that can investigate. The IG has no prosecutor powers, and can not arrest anyone or bring them to Justice. In fact the only people who can act on their reports are Congress who then would recommend prosecution after reviewing the Report. Unlike Special Council Mueller who could have at anytime recommended prosecution for Trump but declined.
It'll all happen on Trump Time. I'm thinking the relevant pieces are already baked in a cake, sitting in the fridge ready to serve, and that Durham is just the coffee brewing on the side. Sessions wrote up the core documentation and prepped the case last year. Misdirection from our Sun Tzu Master, only waiting for the appropriate time.
There are rumors - I consider them unlikely - that Shillary might run again.
Also, Comey is scared shitless of Rosenstein because he realizes things are moving irresistibly towards big ass trouble for himself. Rosenstein did a great job acting all anti-Trump and misdirecting the Libs to believe that when Mueller found somethnig, Rosenstein would get Trump for them. Horowitz has a great timeline, that will show that when the FBI reopened the case against Hillary in October, it was only to exonerate her after more emails were revealed - Strzok and company literally reviewed NONE of those Emails. Comey and Strzok simply used the few days to find a reason not to charge her.
I would hope this would lead somewhere, before a 'Great Diversion' (likely war) to draw attention away and make these investigations/prosecutions forgotten dead letters. I am not optimistic that Barr is the agent of such prosecution, no matter how much lionization that he is going after the culprits.
This is good; I noticed that Clapper and Brennan threw Comey under the bus; they claim they advised him to not use the fake piss dossier funded by Hillary to seek a warrant to spy on Trump.
So, evidently they are scared already of what may happen to them.
Get your checkbooks out assholes; you will be under the hot lights and paying a shyster big bucks soon.
