Sorry to pick on California, but they seem to be the poster-boy for all bad ideas lately..

No, everybody knows the key to wealth is you fork over all tax money to the wealthiest people instead of letting the government use it on infrastructure, schools, etc., etc. and then you run up the biggest military debt imaginable and act like you are all around the world to fight against injustice not to gain advantages again for those wealthy few who are raking in profits from where? not so much us any more, but all around the world.

This is a joke right? You understand when you fork the money over to the government, they just give it to the rich people building your roads, bridges, schools, etc. You're clearly not in the business of getting government contracts that are zero or essentially no bid. The MIC is bad, but to think schools or infrastructure is any different you don't understand.

Isn’t key to wealth to fork all money to government? So they can live it up, while working Americans die in poverty.

Here is a list of ways to fork over all tax money to the wealthiest people:

1. Section-8 housing voucher paying landlords who can't otherwise find tenants paying that much;

2. Government subsidized healthcare paying medicine at prices that consumers wouldn't pay;

3. Government subsidized education, so that deans and superintendents are paid half a million dollars or more in annual salary!

4. Building public roads, public schools and public buildings at ridiculously high prices. e.g. $100 mil for a high school! Of course the construction companies, union bosses, big banks financing those bonds, and politicians make out like bandits! Well, they are bandits! as tax collection is essentially armed robbery.

All Republicans in Congress have a minimum wage, $174,000/year + benefits & their voters don't make them punch a time clock.
How much does Trump's base make? I'm sure they have 0 copay under Trumpcare benefits. Somebody's stupid!

All politicians in office should be required to follow Trump's example of collecting only $1 for salary.

All politicians who get richer in office or get richer within 10 years after leaving office than they were before entering office (by a margin larger than S&P500 gain during that time) should forfeit those gains/difference; those experiencing 100x or more gain during the same time frame should face the death penalty! Holding a public office should be public service, not an opportunity to make oneself filthy rich! If you want to get rich, do it in the competitive market place itself!

Yes, this exactly and your other points. Let's tax everyone and let a group of mom's on a school board make decisions about general contracting for building a fucking school. What could go wrong?

I know Democrats don't like guns, but at some point they need to realize they're holding one and shooting themselves in the foot with some of their wants/wishes. Infrastructure!!!! Schools!!!!! Keep that money from the wealthy!!!! Taxes!!!! LOL.

Was it talk radio or Fox, where everything that isn't a GOP talking point is ridiculed by a distinguished panel of leggy blondes.

Lol, I don't think I've ever watched Fox outside of a Bears game on the local affiliate. Cable has been banished from my life for about 7 years now, so no national shows on whatever network someone is bitching about.

jazz_music says
Taxes LOL is how government is financed. When you run deficits you are beholden to banks about what you can and cannot do.

What are you talking about here? Yes, taxes fund government, duh. Is this for real? Your taxes then go to the wealthy business owners that pave your roads and build your schools. This is twilight zone shit.

Trust me, when they get done destroying the government of the people, you WILL NOT like it.

You are kidding right? The man who coined the term "government of the people" literally committed genocidal war crimes on the people (ordering Sherman's March burning a wide swath from Atlanta to the Atlantic) . . . in stark contrast to King George III and Prime Minister North's decision in granting independence to the 13 Colonies without prosecuting a war to its bitter end.

When you hear "government of the people," you should be translating that into: you are being drafted into killing your fellow peons!

IT's probably true that raising the minimum wage isn't the key to wealth.

But then again it's also true that letting in immigrants to do day care, gardening, a picking crops, and other such jobs isn't holding down wages of software engineers.

( I guess they can ask for a little more if their child care cost goes up - but then the question also is - do you trust that person as much, with your child ?)).

Trump is collecting the full presidential salary of $400k/year. However, he donates the whole amount to charity.

Wrong.

When people can make decent money at menial jobs, less of them go to credential school. But the brightest and passionate still get degrees. That is a double edge sword: It's easier to separate the wheat from the chaff since the less interested and less qualified don't get the credential, but those remaining will be fewer and demand more.

If it were really true we didn't need unskilled workers like we used to, we also wouldn't need unskilled immigrants and you'd not see a huge gap between trade school/2 -year degree holders and the unskilled narrow, but rather broaden.

The difference between HS Grads and "Some College" is actually a bit narrower today than in 1965.

Most 4-year degrees are not STEM related, but more likely English, Social Work, Education. Jobs that used to be done by HS Graduates, or perhaps 2-year graduates. Bank Tellers/Loan Officers/Professional Salespeople are also examples of jobs that were largely held by non-Bachelor holders, and not in the ancient past.

It's interesting that the biggest gap between "Some Advanced Education" and "HS or Less" was in the 80s and 90s, before the full impact of trading away America for Free and the massive increase in H1Bs.

High crime, high murders, all financial stress related

This is totally wrong. Look at Chicago's murders. You think any of it was financial stress? Was there a financial motive, sure, they want more turf to dish drugs out. To think the shootings/murders in a city like Chicago is because those guys are broke is a complete joke. Most of these goons shooting each other up are technically closer to the 1% than you'd think. Especially when you account for them not paying state and federal income taxes. Most your bangers/dealers are pulling in 40-50k cash, the equivalent of a $60-70k job with some of the cheapest rents in the city if they actually rent. Most the time they're crashing at baby momma's house (1 through 10, take your pick that night) living on section 8. This is 100% the reality of the ghetto and it has NOTHING to do with race or income. It's a lifestyle.

And please don't show me some heat map of income and neighborhoods where the crime is high. They don't report their fucking drug sales to the state or fed, duh. There's more money flowing through poor neighborhoods than you'd think. Own a building or 10 in a high crime area and you can start a conversation. Until then have fun with your idea of what "poverty" is, cause it's not at all what you think it is.

Fuck, there's guys grossing more sales in a day on the corner compared to an entire god damn Target store in the burbs. Heroin ain't cheap.

Before poor people die, they may take out some others out of hate for what they've been through.

That doesn't invalidate the point. Easy come, easy go is the saying with that kind of money. What's the average career lifespan for a drug dealer vs a "legitimate" job? Guessing pretty fucking short. How much of that wealth is ever passed down to loved ones, how many of those people make things better for their future generations? Poverty is not to be overlooked.

Like I said it's a lifestyle. They're making a choice to go into that lifestyle because that was how they were raised. Anyone crying poor because they pissed away their money, regardless of how it was obtained is a whiney bitch and needs to man or woman up. While the quality of teachers in some of these areas might be worse, they're not teaching them to sell drugs, spend the money on gold teeth, $200 shoes and cars they can't afford. Again it's a lifestyle that they WANT. So there's no point in comparing it to a legitimate job that they didn't want to get or work for.

And therein lies the biggest problem. You try to change that lifestyle or criticize it you are now a super huge fucking racist. At some point whites and other races are like, "what the fuck are we supposed to do about this if they don't want help and then blame us?" It's one thing to live in these areas, but to interact with probably close to a thousand tenants over the years in some of the worst neighborhoods in Chicago, it's not all what it's portrayed to be.

If you truly understand the inner workings of some of these neighborhoods it completely invalidates most of the murders in Jazz's point (especially in Chicago). Yes there are poor people (poverty) in these neighborhoods that are struggling and aren't bangers. But they're also the one's not killing each other. I'd guess 75% of the murders in Chicago are bangers shooting each other up and most of them are pulling in $50k a year even if they're low level. That's not poverty. It's bangers acting like the British trying to colonize as many streets as they can to sell the most drugs in a form of street warfare.

Then the media reports the killings and shootings and show up to the scene when the cops are there. Once they take down the police tape and start packing up, the reporters are out of there as fast as can be. There's very little "good" reporting on what these neighborhoods are like and it's generally biased by a former resident that turned their shit around, didn't live the lifestyle but still reminisces about the good times in the hood and writes a hit piece on how it's other people's fault the hood is broke and killing each other.

And this is beyond anecdotal from my experience. Someone can't say they understand war because they watched the news, some movie or read a study on it. Work in a ghetto for 10 years for 20-40 hours a week. Interview almost 1,000 tenants, checking their backgrounds, leasing history, jobs/income, etc. Deal with evictions and issues/crimes involving tenants and shit they're doing. Most people won't even drive through these neighborhoods, let alone get out and talk to someone. There's a massive misconception with poor black areas in major cities by most people. Don't believe everything you hear. It's very easy for people to blame others for their own faults, shortcomings and laziness.

So yeah, when you start requiring employers to pay some livable wage the businesses don't work any more.

If young people are priced out of the legal job market, how do they get work experience?

This.

Extreme and would cause a shit storm but eliminating the minimum wage would do more good than harm. If you want to work for $5/hr, why can’t you negotiate that with an employer? Hell, most IC’s have worked a job at negative wages. No one gives a shit about that though.

$5/hr experience is better than nothing at all.

No, that’s done by H1B visa program, the visa designed to suppress wages of white collar workers.

It’s all the same philosophy, lower wages == more profits for corporations. Illegals suppress the wages of blue collar, H1B does it for white.
