When wife was done with masters 9 years ago she owed about 20k from CA state college. Nobody is forcing all these dumb asses to not live at home or not work at all while going to college. The loan shouldn't be for room and board, fucking around, travel, and taking longer than needed.

Some masters programs are breathtakingly expensive. MBA, law degree come to mind (I suppose law degree is technically a PhD, but at least is only 3 years.) Most degrees where the undergraduate is worthless means the master's is doubly-worthless.

MS degrees are the new higher ed scam. First, student graduates with a worthless BS, and can not get a job because there are not many jobs in Paraplegic Eskimo Lesbian literature studies (and student is too dumb for med school). Then, school helpfully tells student that if she gets a MS in Womyns empowerment for $25K/year, she will most definitely find a well-paid job, thus delaying the inevitable (becoming a Starbucks barista) for 2 years and 50K in additional tuition.

Can't get a job with your worthless undergrad degree? Then extend adolescence for another 2 years getting a worthless Masters in the same subject.
