CA needs high speed deportations.

I never looked into it, but I always had a hunch that the high speed rail was pushed by large landowners in central CA. Putting rail through it would turn all those sleepy towns into housing centers where people could hop on the train to get to work in the bay or LA.

Instant land value appreciation if you improve access to an area. Good way to make the masses pay for the profits of a few.

Travel times between the Bay Area and the Los Angeles basin will be reduced from 12 hours by conventional rail, or 7 to 8 hours by car, to less than 3 hours by high-speed rail.

And? Still too long for "going there in the morning, coming back to dinner" type of travel. And still 3 times longer than on a plane.

The analysis done by the authority’s Early Train Operator shows the best option for early interim service in the Central Valley is to develop a line between Merced, Fresno and Bakersfield, and provide faster travel and greater connectivity in and beyond that 171-mile stretch

Oh, yeah, because there is sooo much demand for high-speed rail travel between Merced and Bakersfield. The fucking train will be fucking packed every day!

The environmentalists killed it. Greedy California politicians helped. It was always a damned fraud. Voters approved a train, not a hog trough for the wealthy and well connected to get even richer while building nothing.

Will it be faster than a U-Haul to Texas?
