U.S. immigration officials say raids at seven food processing plants in Mississippi resulted in 680 arrests.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Acting Director Matthew Albence told The Associated Press that the arrest count from Wednesday’s raids may make it the largest workplace sting in more than a decade and probably the largest ever for a single state.

Authorities say about 600 agents fanned out across the plants, surrounding the perimeters to prevent workers from fleeing. They targeted several companies.

The raids happened in small towns near Jackson with a workforce made up largely of Latino immigrants. The towns hit include Bay Springs, Carthage, Canton, Morton, Pelahatchie and Sebastapol.

Now, arrest the executives and the operations managers.

"The official says owners as well as employees are targeted in a federal criminal investigation."

What part of "There are no Jobs Americans don't want!" you bastards don't understand.

Repeat offenders should be drowned in the Rio Grande.

Good to see the demand side of the issue attacked finallly. It was ridiculous when they showboated that "crackdown" on 7-11 stores, catching a handful of illegals at a time, while ignoring large packing plants where hundreds of illegals are concentrated.

A lot of the opposition to actions targeting the immigrants themselves is due to the asymmetric response that has been policy for decades. Ignore the employers who are probably big GOP donors; instead maintain a large fearful population of immigrant labor to depress wages.

Excellent point. Trump just reduced demand by 680 people.

All the Trump fans seem to conveniently forget that deportation my open up a crappy job, but it also takes away a consumer (or a consumer family). At best it's a wash. Most likely it's a net loss in jobs for the overall economy.

Remittances are Mexico's 3rd biggest source of income; money that isn't being spent in the USA.

The overwhelming majority of US Citizens - and almost all working menial jobs - spend their entire paycheck in the USA.

$30B to Mexico ALONE, that is sucked out of the US Economy. That's more than the NASA Budget; think of how many thousands of people make middle class incomes working for NASA, nevermind all the jobs at contractors.

The Democrats are definitely NOT the party of the Working Class.

JACKSON, Miss.—Six of seven Mississippi chicken processing plants raided Aug. 7 were “willfully and unlawfully” employing people who lacked authorization to work in the United States, including workers wearing electronic monitoring bracelets at work for previous immigration violations, according to unsealed court documents.

Federal investigators behind the biggest immigration raid in a decade relied on confidential informants inside the plants in addition to data from the monitoring bracelets to help make their case, according to the documents.

The sworn statements supported the search warrants that led a judge to authorize Wednesday’s raids, and aren’t official charges, but give the first detailed look at the evidence involved in what Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have described as a yearlong investigation.

Officials arrested 680 people during Wednesday’s operation . Three Democratic congressmen on Friday demanded that the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice produce information. They want to know the cost of the raids, whether employers face criminal charges, whether any U.S. citizens were detained, how many parents were separated from children and whether any still remain separated.

The statements unsealed Thursday allege that managers at two processing plants owned by the same Chinese man actively participated in fraud. They also show that supervisors at other plants at least turned a blind eye to evidence strongly suggesting job applicants were using fraudulent documents and bogus Social Security numbers.
