Man dies because cycling on twisty narrow mountain roads not closed off to car traffic is idiotic.

And he might be alive today if he hadn't decided to ride his bike on a sunny day when motorists and cyclists can struggle to see the roadway and oncoming traffic because of overhanging trees that create deep shade alternating with bright sunlight. Can anyone take personal responsibility for their bad judgement?

"Nevertheless, unlike on the mountain, there are no signs warning motorists to use caution because of the upcoming dangers."

It is sad, but I hardly think signs would have made a difference. With anyone familiar with it, I think caution would be intuitive, especially by bikers who are so much more exposed to danger. I often see bikers as the least cautious people on the road. They routinely ignore traffic signals and signs as well. Going south on a one way street and up a blind incline on the viaduct, it was just seconds before I would have been hit head on by two cyclists riding at least 15 MPH the wrong way in the traffic lane--they would have been catapulted over my car to no telling what injuries or death.

Meh. It’s also risky to skydive with a squirrel suit. No amount of signage will help you survive a 200mph impact with a mountain rock outcropping.
Likewise, if you’re going to ride a bike under risky conditions, you’d better be good at it or you might get dead.

"Fool dies a fool's death. Deep Pocket Lawsuit pending. Bar Association thanks fool for generating litigation pretense."

Seems like the road should be closed to motor vehicles. What's the point of driving up a mountain? Park the truck and get some exercise. That said, putting tire-puncturing spikes down the middle here-and-there would probably be a good idea to keep people on the correct side of the road.

People live there. The truck belongs to a contractor working on one of the houses.
