"People who think the government will provide them with "guaranteed" and quality health care, haven't been to the DMV or the VA in a while"

People who think private enterprise is efficient and benign have not heard about PG&E.

For every PG&E, I can cite 100 fucked up and near-bankrupt government run municipalities or Federal bureaucracies.

BTW - PG&E is a union shop, so of course you are going to get lazy complacency, just like much of our government.

Luckily for all of us, private enterprises which are not politically well-connected go bankrupt rather quickly when they are inefficient. For politically connected ones, see Government efficiency.

Here's the difference.

A private doctor you pay has an obligation to treat you, medically.

The police you pay have no "duty to protect" and don't have to respond when you call 911.

Mature Individuals are responsible for their own well being, always have been. The kids call this "Adulting"

“But more in general, ANY company in even a 'private enterprise economy' that deals a lot or mostly with the government as its primary customer and especially over a long period of time become the example of poor efficiency and management you referred to with your PG&E comment. Defense & NASA contractors come to mind”

Please name a major company in the U.S. That does NOT deal a lot or mostly with the U.S. government over a long period of time

A gun in my hand is also a form of "insurance".

What fool would have the foresight to have a gun and figure out how to use it (point it away from yourself dummy) and not have the foresight to buy health insurance?

You better carry either pepper spray or a Glock 42 around to deter the scumbags who eventually will bother you or hurt or maim or kill you.

A homeless nut killed a nice woman a few years ago as she was walking to her little business downtown on Pacific Ave; he didn't know her or have any motive except killing.

That's a false choice. Who says you can't have a gun AND medical insurance? Is the original complainer saying you can't have "guaranteed medical insurance" unless everyone is disarmed? Guaranteeing health insurance requires such onerous measures that the population would rebel if they had the means to do so? Given the choice of being poor in the USA or poor in Venezuela, I'll take the USA thank you.

Clearly the idiot has not lived in White Supremacist centers like Detroit or Baltimore.
