I think I'd stay put. Maybe rent some mini-storage where you can store things that you do not use.

The future does not look good. The more savings you have the better.

I don't get it. Rents "took a big dive", and that makes it hard to get a rental "for a decent price"? Would you be happier if they went back up?

Your arguments against options A and B focus entirely on tight supply, while your argument for C is entirely about price. I think this is framing the question in a way where you aren't being honest with yourself. If you want a condo, then fine, but don't buy one just because it's easier than finding a new apartment.

It looks like you're looking for home in specific area. Abundant ammenties, hot, energetic, cool and hip sort of area, I guess. Otherwise, what you're saying is against each other as alpine pointed out.

I don't know if you like this suggestion or not though, what can you find if you look arround outside the specific area you're looking at now?
